Toronto is a huge city but in general they are a middle of the road team. But they spent money (5th highest payroll) and wow, in the final four.

But ok, if its only the biggest market, then explain the Royals who won about 10 years ago. If its only franchises with history thene xplain the Florida Marlins. Or how Tampa Bay made it a few times recently. How
The Cardinals have the history, but its a midwestern city with not a lot of media exposure as compared to NY/LA etc and yet have won it all recently.
Being in huge market helps, spending money helps but nothing is ever guaranteed.
People are just upset that the "rich got richer" with the Dodgers in terms of talent but they put it all back in the team instead of their own pockets.
Nobody likes a winner to keep winning. Theats why the most popular teams in each sport are also the most hated (Cowboys. The Chiefs now. The Patriots a few years ago. Duke. The Lakers. The Yankees. The Dodgers. Man U and Real Madrid...)

A couple things:

• Deferred salary. Check out the Dodgers deferred salary.

• Yeah, the Kansas City Royals won (by “shooting their wad” on pitching) in 2015…and it sparked the current “salary arms race” (not that the absence of a salary cap wasn’t a problem before the Kansas City Royal’s splash out for pitching). I would also argue that success in MLB is basically predicated on pitching, and the big market (money) teams that can monopolize pitching (pitching depth) by poaching from other teams AND STILL afford quality hitting and fielding just might have an unfair "competitive" advantage. The big market (money) teams can also fend off other teams who try to poach THEIR players.

Of course, there WILL (very occasionally) be exceptions to the rule (especially in the current environment with the current rules), but very occasional success for smaller market teams is killing baseball, imho. I’m sure Dodger & Yankee fans (and a few other big market team’s fans) who experience fairly consistent success would disagree.

It is what it is.

I am curious which team our hostess wants her Dodgers to take on.
Honestly, I don't follow baseball and I am a bit bitter that my team was doubled up on by dem Cowboys.
But for S&G, what does her fans think she'll say?
Does she prefer them to take on Toronto or Seattle?

Seattle. She has some kind of moral issue with a Toronto player.

Ill break it down like this:

My AL team has always been the Blue Jays.
Dont ask me why other than when I was a young kid I was there for a couple of days and thought the logo and font were cool.
However...the Blue Jays have George Springer and every cheating Astros player deserves a fiery death.
The Mariners havent ever been to the World Series so that makes it fun.
I also think they are not particularly scary of a team.
Also, there would be no bs day games if the Mariners win.
I am pulling a bit more for the Mariners.
I expect Toronto to win though, as I think they have a better team. And its at home.
