What gives you hope, happiness, a piece of joy that, however small, is precious? I know there are other threads like this, but this one is very much for those who suffer from depression in some form or another.

What gives you light to follow out of the dark?

For me- it's those rare and wonderful people that I have in my life that give me an immense hope for the future of this fucked up world. No matter how close or how far they are from where I am- I hope they all know how much I admire them, and how much they inspire me.

With me it's getting feedback for something I did, a thank you, a hug, whatever.

It makes me feel like I'm actually contributing something rather than just existing.

On-coming headlights, usually. I don't follow the light out--I get driven out

Any act of human kindness, no matter how small. And little kids who wave from passing cars. :D

Darkness is but the absence of light, and any light, large or small, will remove it.
Falling, you are a light upon my path, and I cherish you for that.<end of mush>

The act of being " touched". The way in which it happens rarely matters.

It's when I cannot be " touched" anymore, when nothing affects me, or matters to me, that I know I'm in a extremely dark space.

Luna_Wolf72, who has taught me so much, including the correct way to do laundry and apply makeup, is the perfect constant in my life, my haven from the world's cruelty and excellent hugger and cuddler.

My life would be incomplete without you.

The only thing keeping me from spontaneously dying is the hope that tomorrow will be better. That I will finally meet someone to spend my time with, either romantically or just as a friend or anything other than being alone.

Not much.

Rumple Foreskin

Replying without reading the responses ...

It's the connection with another soul -- with someone who "gets me."

:rose:

Knowing I'm needed by others keeps me going.

The pessimism is strong in me right now, so small good things bring an expectation of large squashing in the near future.

The right song can help.

For me, it's literally light. I get depressed if I'm not careful to get sunlight during the winter. Outdoor exercise is my key to mental health.

So well spoken. :rose: Not a kid in reality, but mostly in my heart ... <waving> :D

Waking up in the morning and knowing that life is never gonna suck like it once did. That's kind of enough for me.

There is a "suck" offer somewhere in this, squirrel boy, but I'm walking away ... ;)

If we're talking about that AV, it's, "Oh rat ..." ;) Rats with fluffy tails. Luckily, I kinda think mice are cute-ish, so you're, like, golden .... I mean, you're like, an exotic Swedish rode ... guy. :D

This may be an odd response but sometimes its my fear and or my anger that gives me the strength to keep on doin it.

And Rora, you would! Evil woman.... *cuddles Joey and mutters*

For me the answer is always my daughter. She gives me the will to take on anything. My faith helps quite a bit, but I'm a believer that bad things do happen to good people, so I don't expect miracles to come in and "save me" (although I'm quite grateful for the series of "coincidences" that led me to find Kiten). I believe we're pretty much on our own, and the choices we make and strength we find within ourselves is our testament to life.
