You can't make this stuff up:

Without belittling what she may have been going through, this sounds like one of the standard plotlines on the Loving Wives section of lit, the wife working as an escort, then blaming it on some issue, whether it be depression or hormone problems. I think it is interesting that her husband apparently knew and was 'against it', how many spouses would still be around after finding out she was acting as a high priced hooker? I also don't understand how someone who is a mother to young kids could just up and go to the towns where she was working like that, it doesn't sound like for example the single mother doing this to support her kids, it is really weird...which probably lends credence to the idea she had some real issues, it is either that or she is someone who got her jollies off doing what she did, kind of like in the LW stories.

I actually kind of hope she is able to put it back together, I really don't wish her ill will and hopefully there is love and support to be able to do so, for her sake and also for the kid(s) and such.

To be fair, she's been talking about coping with depression for years, and has even given advice on how others can try to deal with it if they have it.

But damn, what a thrill that must be for a client if they knew. $600 and you get an hour with an Olympian. I'd definetely pay if I knew who she was, but only if she was single. :)

Speaking of which, she said that she told some of the clients who she was and she suspected that one of them told on her.

I would think that on an erotica site, we'd be looking at the fun side of this.

Exactly. If she was getting off with her customers, she was charging $600 per hour to have orgasms. Not bad work if you can get it.

The article was disappointing in that it didn't explain what was involved in her escort duties. Did she have a specialty? What was her downstairs grooming preference? What were the physical attributes of her bust and butt? What was her deep throating capability? Was she unusually flexible? Did she possess incredible stamina?

Obviously, the NT Times can no longer afford competent reporters.

"Downstairs grooming preference..." LOL!

Thanks for a much-needed laugh this morning, See :)

My concern would have been that with her Olympic running background, she would just run off.

Someone that fit might be hazardous to a more sedentary client. Having to assist with a police report would have done nothing for her depression!

Can you imagine being a client and paid 6 grand for her overnight, and she did what she did in the olympics, decided she couldn't go through with it and just laid there, kind of like what she did on the track?

What is interesting to me, too, is that she isn't that young, she is in great shape...was her thing being the MILF, telling the guys she was married and they were getting a MILF? Most guys you would figure would want the young bimbo type, what was her appeal?

What I would love to know seriously is how being an escort could help with depression? Was being paid for sex a kind of natural serotonin generator? Was it like a lot of trans girls can feel, like getting fucked by different guys validation of some sort? None of the articles have explained that, I suppose that waits for the memoir and the inevitable trips on the talk show circuit, with Barbara Wawa saying so seriously "So tell us, Suze, about how deep down you really felt about doing that group of Shrine-ahs in the ass" while Joyce Behar brays like a horse and Elizabeth Hasselbeck is calling the FCC.....

I could see how getting paid $600/hour for it would help counter depression. There for a time, I did a bit of that--like her, on top of some other zingy standing in life. I wasn't depressed. And I didn't bring in any $600/hour. But it was uplifting to know that I could bring in what I did. And the risk was a bit up an upper too.

*telephone rings*

"Good evening, Sophisticates Escort Service, may I help you?"

"Um ... hello ... I'm from out of town and I'd like to pork a former three time Olympic medal winner in track. Can you help me out?"

"Certainly sir, we have just the escort for you ..."

Getting $600 smackers an hour would have bought a carload of anti-depression meds, but that would have cramped her style.

PS: The NYT links been severed. I wonder why? :D

The link is working for me, and supposedly with links it doesn't get covered by their pay service policy (I think it is 10 free articles/month)......should be working.

I think depression was just an excuse, ala the twinkie defense. It is not becoming of a lady to just admit she likes fucking for money.

Actually, I was expecting some backlash for my "bust and butt" remark in that it could be perceived as objectifying women, and it occurred to me - I'm working on a story right now involving fashion models, and my research discovered that they're required to include their height, weight and measurements on their comp card. Are fashion models oppressed because their physical attributes determine whether or not they get work? Considering that fashion models and prostitutes both grant access to their bodies for money, couldn't the prostitute just say "I'm a total-access fashion model. It's an honest living"?

I'm sure there are prostitutes who are taken advantage of, or demeaned, or ruined by drug addiction and disease, but surely some of them do it because they enjoy it. There are women who like to fuck, plain and simple. Groupies come to mind, as do 20-somethings "going through a phase" and middled-aged cougars. Are these women oppressed, or sex addicts who need rehab, or just people enjoying themselves? What about the 70% to 80% of Americans who hate their jobs? Aren't they granting access to their bodies - and minds - in return for money? Couldn't these people be getting a worse deal than a prostitute who enjoys her work?

In our culture, promiscuous men are seen in a different light than promiscuous women. I think that could be why the track star needed to come up with an excuse for her behavior. Or not. I have no clue, really. I'm imagining she was one of those take-charge type of women who wraps men around her little finger and enjoys it. If that was the case I say more power to her.

The story was of sufficient interest to merit a report in the Daily Telegraph, one of England's more serious papers.
And her 'business card' looked real nice!

Apples and oranges, I think. It's not that she was having promiscuous sex, but that she was charging for it. I think that if LaBron James charged $600/hour for it (and, who knows, maybe he does), it would be just as newsworthy and he'd be just as stuck to justify the behavior.

Oh, I saw the article. What I wanted a link to was her business card. Prurient curiosity and all that, don'tcherknow . . .

I think she's hung up her crotchless panties by now, but what the Hell, try Googling it. If there's an image, they'll have it.;)
