Life has taught me.......

I've learned that some of the most wonderful people on the planet hang out on a smut message board online.

Actually, some supermassive black holes still retain the original spin of the star that bred them. This creates a twist in the path to the event horizon, which in effect, gives it an axis of rotation :)

I'm going to start calling you Ms. Brain. :cathappy:

Kinda makes you wonder where all the worst people would hang out, doesn't it? ;)

She does seem like one of the smartest people in the room, doesn't she? Often surprises me with her knowledge.

Life has taught me...

...not to eat the yellow snow.
...to keep the toilet seat down. Because it kinda smells when you forget to flush.
...to wear clean underwear. You never know when you stand there with your pants around your ankles.
...that cows are as stupid as they are ill tempered.
...that evil looks just like good, until you poke it with a stick.
...that it's better to call everyone else an idiot based on evidence than based on prejudice.
...irony.

Very true. You guys are great people.

Now, that's a fascinating. Although it was the opposite for me. Knowing that I wasn't going to roast in the fires of Hell for fucking around, drinking, cussing, and contemplating armed revolution every time that I got seriously mad at politicians was a relief. Compared to the idea of eternal damnation, the news that science gave that I might at most have to worry about reincarnation and quite possibly just about being food for worms when I am too unaware and unconscious to feel pain didn't depress. It just made me chill out and relax a little, enjoy my life, and be myself. So science has been good news.

But for those who imagined themselves headed for Heaven, yeah, I can understand the let-down. I was bracing myself for eternal torment, so I was relieved.

That warfare isn't like the movies. Bombs, bullets and shells don't care who they kill - even the innocents in the middle.

That very few things are worth arguing about. The few that are: are worth fighting and dying for.

That people of different faiths, or none at all, can have the 'Christian' virtues of tolerance and hospitality to a stranger, but someone of their own belief who is just slightly different is an enemy.

That people from different countries, of differing skin colour and different hair, are just people. Some are good, some are bad but the vast majority are just ordinary folks.

And lastly: Old doesn't necessarily equal wise. Some people get stupider even if they started as thick as two short planks.
