A 60-year-old man who had begun experimenting with bondage sex was bound with handcuffs and was wearing women's underwear when he was found dead in his Pickering home, sources say.

Durham homicide detectives remained tight-lipped yesterday about the circumstances surrounding the suspicious death of Hugh Alexander Cave.

Investigators are trying "desperately" to locate the dead man's missing car, Durham police Sgt. Paul Malik said.

The victim was found by his landlord Saturday afternoon in his basement apartment of a Rambleberry Ave. home in the Hwy. 401 and Liverpool Rd. area.

As well as wearing handcuffs and black women's underwear, Cave had clear plastic wrap tied around his neck, sources said.

He recently had developed an interest in bondage sex and apparently died while bound, sources said. Cave is known to have a heart condition, most recently suffering a heart attack Jan. 2, they added.

It's not certain how long Cave had been there before he was found. There are no signs of trauma to the body, but because the dead man's car is missing, foul play hasn't been ruled out. Police refused to release the results of an autopsy.

Homicide detectives are asking if anyone finds Cave's car, a blue 1994 four-door Saturn with Ontario plates ABCZ-891, to call their local police force immediately.
