Liberals express outrage over new COVID isolation guidelines

Progressive ideologues voiced outrage this week after the Biden administration relaxed quarantine requirements for people who test positive for COVID-19.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced new guidance on Monday that people who test positive for COVID should isolate themselves for only five days — down from the agency’s previous requirement of 10 days.

Specifically amid the latest wave of COVID infections, businesses have experienced pressure from a significant increase of employees who have become sick with COVID and are thus being forced to stay home for two weeks.

The reduction was a political reaction and wasn't needed.

Based on what we know about Covid at this point, the reduction was scientifically reasonable.

Is it perfect??? Probably not. But perfect is often the enemy of good.

At some point, (barring another spate of massively high hospitalizations AND deaths), the transition to a more normal treatment of Covid as an endemic disease needs to begin. The results of this decision will go a long way toward determining if we are moving past the pandemic stage.

To suggest that this decision was purely political is infantile.

No reduction of time was needed.

At some point, it will be an endemic, and when it is, we will not need any specific time for isolation.

But that's a ways off right now.
