Levels of Submission and Domination...

bratcat,
Thank you so much for posting these. I found them very interesting. They're similar to the "Nine Degrees" that Pure posted earlier, but perhaps more filled out; almost like they've been tailored for a forum like this.

I do have one question, though: I got the impression there was a progession implied in the lists; from least favored, at the beginning, to most favored at the end.

I'm curious if anyone else got this impression too.

Sandia.

Thanks bratcat, this is very definitely the place to post this kind of information.

I think that it is wonderful that we all find something different out there in the big www and end up sharing it here.

Summary: The Nine Degrees Of Submission, by Vera
What degree are you?

Diane Vera, in 1984, proposed nine degrees of submission in an s/m classic, easily available in full, on the net. What follows is a full summary of most points[4,6,7,8], with some abridging and deletions [for 1,3,5,9]; it’s been mostly re-worded in paraphrase and has no direct quotes except in the label for the each degree. Please visit a site when the full original document is reproduced with permission, or better yet, buy the book referenced in full, below.

It's very obvious that the information in this thread was "taken" from the above source, though the points in this post were seemingly somewhat rewritten. In any event, it has been called to my attention that the info here is, basically, an uncredited rip-off of work done by Vera, someone who has been well-known in BDSM circles for a long time.

This thread was posted on 07-06-2002 11:56 AM; the one cited above was posted on 07-01-2002 07:18 PM. They were on page one at the same time.

I ask you all to be a little more careful in posting excerpts from the work of people who should be credited as authoring that which you give to us for consideration. Additionally, please try to insure that any new thread you begin doesn't have an almost-identical twin still active on page one of this board.

I'm closing this thread, and ask anyone who has a remark to make to the subject of submission levels to take it to the above thread, the one wherein the author of this work was cited appropriately.

Thank you,
cymbidia
