Having done active duty time in the Navy I have seen a lot of work, some good and some bad, some with meaning and some the result of too much alcohol... I say they are a form of expression and are each beautiful in their own way...

Well said and I couldn't agree more. I did my time in that Army and saw tattoos just like the one you speak of good and bad.

I have a tattoo on my right shoulder blade. Its a japanese symbol for Tiger. I am a major tiger lover. They are a very beautiful animal, also my nickname is actually tiger, or ti for short, usually just ti. My next tattoo is of a butterfly with a tigers face for its wings. Very beautiful indeed. I also love butterlies too, so why not get both in one.

Love the Dragon tats. A friend of mine has one of a dragon that looks like it is going in and out of his skin... very cool. The dragon is holding a heart embraced in it's arms. The heart used to contain a name but now has a black design covering the name.

Matt: You should post a pic of your tats.... maybe we all should for that matter. It would make this a more interesting thread.

Ok, here are my tats... the fist one that was mentioned earlier in the thread with my kids names. Thats on my left calf.

On my right calf is a diver... that was the sport I participated in during my High School days Conference champ my senior year and state runner up.

On my left arm is a Mutt standing in front of a fire hydrant shooting guns. The lone dog taking a serious stand on his territory... It's about how I felt when I got it done I'm not alone anymore but I will still protect my territory that strongly.

On the left side of my chest is an eagle carrying the flag... Yes, I am very patriotic and love my country.

on my right arm is are tats of Mickey and Minney Mouse. Mickey represents a significant time of my life and Minney represents the day I was married.

My left shoulder blade has an eagle perched on a tree branch looking down and facing in. More patriotism but there is more to be added to that one.

My right shoulder blade has a wolf baying at the moon facing in. This one I got when my brother got his first tat of the same design... He had said that he was never going to get one and then that he would never get another one... So far he has stuck to the second part. Our sister also has a tattoo that matches. Thats a family thing.

So there are mine. I always welcome you feedback or coments.

I totally agree on the addictive/erotic elements to getting a tattoo. I designed both my dragons with the help of a very artistically inclined friend who's designed an entire wall of tattoos at one of the shops in columbia, missouri. funny thing about me is I hate needles, with a passion. But there's something about tattooing that I can look right at the needle gun and not want to rip the guy's/girl's arm off who's about to stick me with that thing a bazillion times.

I'd post a pic of my tats in a heartbeat. but not buying another digital camera for a while. the last one was just too damned expensive and replacing it will suck.

LOL I couldn't agree more! the last time I had a needle was for tetnas (sp) and they literally had to hold me down to do it. But put ink into the mix and I become like the cat I love and will lay there for hours being worked on or working on it myself.

As for pictures, I am rather shy about them as I said, the ink is coming out as fast as I can pour it in. But with a friend coming out with his camera in a few days, I might get him to take pics of them anyway just so everybody can have a laugh.
