Chesapeake Bay, and it's finished for the time being.

Part bridge and part tunnel, it is over 17 miles long. The original plan of a plain bridge was scrapped after the US Navy objected that it would be a potential barricade for ships if it was attacked. I suppose they figured that an enemy could knock over all 17 miles of bridge before the Navy could get out of the bay.
