Why do we let Jeb and George hold us back from embracing our neighbors to the south? Let's let Saigon be a bygone and get our hands on Cohibas. No?

So is the embargo a Right Wing football that they're holding in secret?

His brother has an election to win.

How about this: We trade all the illegal Mexicans in Atlanta, GA for shares in Cuba Inc. and BUY the country back for the Cuban-Floridians.

What? Izz not like they no know the tongue...

Man, I had this conversation today with 2 people on seperate occasions.

I appeal to both those looking for another to a market to exploit as well as those who want to help the people of Cuba.

The Soviet Union dissolved over 10 years ago. The peacemaker is the guy who holds his hand out first. Our president just made us look bad again. Cuba is our neighbor. Castro sold out to the Soviets because of very REAL fears of United States intervention.

Those days are over. They aren't communists. They aren't even marxist-leninists any more. They are just people starving under the Beard.

Let it go. Let's get on with it. Let's do something good for the sake of good.

For the more Machavellian-minded: give people what they want and they will follow. Just be sure you give them what the want- and not what we want.

Let them be a country, America. Drop your shit, and it will collapse like th wall did. Or, is it a matter of tradition that we are fighting here?

Lifting the Embargo would enrichen the Castro family.

I don't see a lot else good.

This is Jimmy Carter saying, Mr. Castro, let us tear down that wall...

Furthermore...

It really shows the truly great nature of our culture that the day after the collapse of the Evil Empire, that we simply did not end the embargo by invasion...

I mean, Foghorn Leghorn was finally without his nuclear protection...

Marxist. How do you feel about Castro having one of the most developed biological programs in the world...

You think Saddam is the only one who wants WMD.

Kruschev didn't remove the missles because Kennedy made him. He did it because Fidel wanted to use them!

Damn, twice in one morning

I thnk that it is time to end the embargo. Amoung other things, our major leagues need the talent. I saw 5 errors in one game reciently.

On a more serious note, ecnomic prosperty on the island would be the surest way to end the psudo-marxist rule. When exposed to the fruits of capitolism, Cubans would retire Castro to the "ash heap of history."

Why is it then, Sam, that the hundreds of millions of US dollars sent legally to family members, the billions of Canadian dollars spent by tourists and the billions spent by European visitors has not helped the average Cuban? Could it be that it winds up in the coffers of a despotic Cuban regime?

I find it truely remarkable that most Liberals will criticize our support of a democratic country like Isreal and it's leader, but champion a man who has so thoroughly destroyed his country and his people!

Destroyed Cuba? No one starves in Cuba today. Most people can read. The poor have marginal healthcare. Not the best or most democratic country by any stretch, but were any of the above true before Fidel?

Get off your Republican high horse and deal with the reality of the situation. Talk about reactionary.

Blaming Jeb and George for 40 years of American policy is nonsense. And typical of your dislike for republicans. However, the US should begin a process of normalization with Cuba.

I think it's fair enough to blame Jeb and George. The Cold War is over. Clinton dragged his feet. That doesn't mean George should help Jeb with his Cuban voters.

Marxist, you need to do some real research on the conditions in Cuba. Talk to some people who have been down there and some who have taken their lives in their hands and escaped. Most do not set out on an innertube for Key West because they are going to Fantasy Fest or because they are "political" detainees! No, they may not be starving "to death", but they are starving Marxist, physically and spiritually! Your liberal slant seems to be that that is acceptable. My "Republican High Horse" stance is that it is not! That regime in Cuba must be ended not strengthened.

Well, Marxist, Im one of those who tend to believe that the cold war isnt over, I believe that the Chinese are every bit of a threat to the US as the Soviets were, so in that aspect the cold war is alive and well. Every President has put Cuba on the back burner. I think a major change in Cuban / American relations will not change until Castro dies.

Man, please!

Cuba is a dump. Per capita income is $3500. No one starves there? Great. No one has any freedom there, either. Some tradeoff.

Anyone that thinks the Chinese are our enemies and the Cold War is still on (even though it was over even before the Soviets officially capitulated) is worthy of scorn, contempt, insults, and subscription to "Flat World Monthly."

As alway you resort to name calling. Because I have formed an opinion different from yours Im a member of the JBS incredible! Typical behavior from the left.

Guilty.

I believe the new Russia is the old Russia and the newly named KGB runs the show, including the Russian Mafia...

I believe China is a threat. They have said so. At every opportunity. Do you call them liars?

I think you live behind rose-colored glasses after your remarks on Cuba.
