On a more serious note, ecnomic prosperty on the island would be the surest way to end the psudo-marxist rule. When exposed to the fruits of capitolism, Cubans would retire Castro to the "ash heap of history."

Why is it then, Sam, that the hundreds of millions of US dollars sent legally to family members, the billions of Canadian dollars spent by tourists and the billions spent by European visitors has not helped the average Cuban? Could it be that it winds up in the coffers of a despotic Cuban regime?
I find it truely remarkable that most Liberals will criticize our support of a democratic country like Isreal and it's leader, but champion a man who has so thoroughly destroyed his country and his people!![]()

Blaming Jeb and George for 40 years of American policy is nonsense. And typical of your dislike for republicans. However, the US should begin a process of normalization with Cuba.Marxist said:Why do we let Jeb and George hold us back from embracing our neighbors to the south? Let's let Saigon be a bygone and get our hands on Cohibas. No?

Destroyed Cuba? No one starves in Cuba today. Most people can read. The poor have marginal healthcare. Not the best or most democratic country by any stretch, but were any of the above true before Fidel?
Get off your Republican high horse and deal with the reality of the situation. Talk about reactionary.
Well, Marxist, Im one of those who tend to believe that the cold war isnt over, I believe that the Chinese are every bit of a threat to the US as the Soviets were, so in that aspect the cold war is alive and well. Every President has put Cuba on the back burner. I think a major change in Cuban / American relations will not change until Castro dies.Marxist said:
I think it's fair enough to blame Jeb and George. The Cold War is over. Clinton dragged his feet. That doesn't mean George should help Jeb with his Cuban voters.

Anyone that thinks the Chinese are our enemies and the Cold War is still on (even though it was over even before the Soviets officially capitulated) is worthy of scorn, contempt, insults, and subscription to "Flat World Monthly."
