You are quite correct, however, speaking from a purely "technical" point of view. The female voice traditionally is more pleasant to the ear and easier to understand which is why they make good reporters and excellent "voice-over" performers.

Food wont reject you, or put you down, or say you're not any good at eating it. Food is always there for you and it doesn't require anything but basic chemistry. That is why it really is dangerous for some of us.
