One is used to hearing one's voice partly through the skull, which is why recordings sound different than we hear ourselves. The difference is part of why we reject recordings of ourselves.

Never thought about it. But I was wondering why is that when we normally speak we're not so self-conscious about our voice.

You don’t sound like a dude

Its funny the hang ups we all have. I worry mine is too high and child like. I want a smoother voice, one id like to listen to. I make all my SatNav male because the female ones just irritate me...not what you want when you’re lost and sheila is telling you to make a u-turn Also, a lot of female radio hosts have a deeper tone to their voice.
