Disneyland is an amusement park or theme park located in Anaheim, California, USA. It opened to the public on the 18th of July, 1955 - with a press preview the day before. The park is owned and operated by The Walt Disney Company. The park consists of various areas with separate themes; an early 20th century Midwest town, jungle adventures, the western frontier, fantasy, and the future. These areas are named, respectively, Main Street USA, Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. An elevated berm supports a three-foot (narrow) gage railroad which circumnavigates the park. Disneyland features rides and attractions designed to appeal to all ages.
The park has been visited by more than 515 million guests since it opened to the public, including presidents, royalty, and other heads of state. Since 1998 Disneyland has been officially renamed Disneyland Park in order to distinguish it from the greater Disneyland Resort complex of which it is a part. In February 2001 Disney opened an adjoining yet separate amusement park called Disney's California Adventure.

Paramount Canada's Wonderland is Canada's premier theme park, featuring nine themed areas and more than 200 attractions including over 65 rides. The park hosts more than 3 million guests annually and employs over 4,000 seasonal employees and 160 year-round employees

Paramount Canada's Wonderland Facts
Construction began in June 1979 when William Davis, then Premier of Ontario, pushed a plunger in downtown Toronto touching off the first blast at Paramount Canada's Wonderland in Vaughan. The peak construction period occurred in 1980 with 700 tradespeople, 12 architectural and engineering firms and 40 inspectors working on the enterprise.
Opening Day - May 23, 1981, William Davis and Dudely Taft, President of Taft Broadcasting Co., were among the notables attending an elaborate opening ceremony for Canada's first national theme park. The ceremony included 10,000 helium balloons, 13 parachutists, 350 white doves, a pipe band and 4 children representing the Arctic, Pacific, Atlantic, and Great Lakes regions of Canada.
The 300 plus acre site in Vaughan, Ontario was selected for its proximity to Toronto. The area's large population base and easy accessibility, particularly via Highways 401 and 400, were two other factors determining the location.

There is no time zone for the North and South Pole

http://ask.yahoo.com/20050302.html
Dear Yahoo!:
What time zone applies at the North and South Poles?
Suzy Q
Chonburi, Thailand

Dear Suzy Q:
Time zones are determined by lines of longitude, so the system falls apart where the lines meet at the poles. More importantly, the poles don't experience daytime and nighttime the way the rest of the planet does. Each pole gets six months of daylight and six months of darkness -- which makes for one really long day.

Both the North and South Poles officially use Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), also known as Greenwich Mean Time. This time zone is based on highly precise atomic clocks kept at various world laboratories.

UTC is mostly used for scientific observations. For example, the North Pole web cam run by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration stamps its pictures with UTC numbers. However, people who work at or near the poles don't really live by UTC -- they often use the time zones of their nearest coworkers.

The North Pole is in the Arctic Ocean and doesn't have a permanent outpost. The nearest camps appear to use the time zone of Moscow, Russia.

The South Pole is on the Antarctic continent, and it's home to the Amundsen-Scott Station. The scientists and support staff who live there use the time zone of Christchurch, New Zealand.

Japan (help·info) (?? Nihon or Nippon?, officially ??? Nihon-koku or Nippon-koku) is an island nation in East Asia. Located in the Pacific Ocean, it lies to the east of China, Korea, and Russia, stretching from the Sea of Okhotsk in the north to the East China Sea in the south. The kanji characters that make up Japan's name mean "sun-origin", which is why Japan is sometimes identified as the "Land of the Rising Sun". Its capital[2] and largest city is Tokyo.
Japan comprises over 3,000 islands, the largest of which are Honsh?, Hokkaid?, Ky?sh? and Shikoku. Most of the islands are mountainous, many volcanic, including Japan’s highest peak, Mount Fuji. Japan has the world's tenth largest population, with about 128 million people. The Greater Tokyo Area, which includes Tokyo and several surrounding prefectures, is the largest metropolitan area in the world, with over 30 million residents.
Archaeological research indicates that people were living on the islands of Japan as early as the upper paleolithic period. The first written mention of Japan begins with brief appearances in Chinese history texts from the 1st century CE. Influence from the outside world followed by long periods of isolation has characterized Japan's history. Thus, its culture today is a mixture of outside influences and internal developments. Since adopting its constitution in 1947, Japan has maintained a unitary constitutional monarchy with an emperor and an elected parliament, the Diet.
A great power,[3] Japan is the world's second largest economy by nominal GDP and is a member of the United Nations, G8 and APEC.

In the film Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, Gorkon was the Chancellor of the Klingon Empire and leader of its High Council in the late 23rd Century, until his assassination. The character was played by actor David Warner.
In an historic peace initiative, Gorkon sought the help of the Federation after the devastating ecological and economic fallout from the destruction of the Klingon moon Praxis.
Gorkon's assassination took place aboard the Klingon battle cruiser Kronos One in interstellar space and was masterminded by Klingon General Chang and Starfleet Admiral Cartwright. Clutching his hopes for peace to the end, his last words were "Don't let it end this way." Captain James T. Kirk and Doctor Leonard McCoy were framed and sentenced for the crime but later exonerated.
Gorkon was familiar with the works of William Shakespeare, quoting Hamlet. In contrast with the rugged fashion customarily worn in Klingon society, Gorkon wore rich blacks and reds accented with silver jewelry, giving him a regal stature. Because of Gorkon's accomplishments and the honour with which he is regarded, he is most likely thought of as having joined Kahless in Sto-Vo-Kor. Gorkon's daughter, Azetbur, succeeded him as Chancellor.
The writers of the film envisioned Gorkon as something of a cross between Mikhail Gorbachev and Abraham Lincoln.

The Blarney Stone is a stone set in the wall of the Blarney Castle tower in the Irish village of Blarney. Kissing the stone is supposed to bring the kisser the gift of persuasive eloquence (blarney). The castle was built in 1446 by Cormac Laidhiv McCarthy (Lord of Muskerry) -- its walls are 18 feet thick (necessary to thwart attacks by Cromwellians and William III's troops). Thousands of tourists a year still visit the castle. The origins of the Blarney Stone's magical properties aren't clear, but one legend says that an old woman cast a spell on the stone to reward a king who had saved her from drowning. Kissing the stone while under the spell gave the king the ability to speak sweetly and convincingly. It's tough to reach the stone -- it's between the main castle wall and the parapet. Kissers have to stretch to their back and bend backward (and downward), holding iron bars for support.
