While reading some of the threads this afternoon, I noticed several references to posters who are "nicey nice" (apparently, that's a bad thing). There were even inferences that people who posted in both Dillinger's Thread and Lavendar's Thread are contradicting themselves.

Guess what? I posted in both threads. I support the idea that we should defend our friends and treat each other with kindness and respect. I also support the notion that women have the right to be assertive or aggressive without being treated badly on the boards. I don't find these two viewpoints to be mutually exclusive.

We all have a right to choose our own behavior. Just because some of us choose not to become embroiled in arguments or post on some of the more "intellectual topics" doesn't mean we are one dimensional or less passionate. It may simply mean that we have enough stress in our lives and we come to Lit for some relaxation.

BTW, not all of us nice people are insincere. My rant is now over.

I posted in both threads as well.....I don't plan on being nicey nicey, though I know I am usually not all that mean.....What I posted in Lavy's thread said just that.....I don't always agree with her, but I RESPECT her right to her opinion......

I actually didn't post in either thread.

I'm asserting my right to post whatever I want, whenever I want to post it. I read ALL of both threads, agreed with several people of varying viewpoints, and didn't feel I had anything valuable to add.

My bottom line (for my very own personal posting situation) is that i will post what I want to post on those topics I feel like posting on, when I damn well want to post on them. If I want to be bitchy, I will. If I want to be sickeningly sweet, I'll do that too.

If someone else doesn't like it, I'll fully respect their right to go and fuck themselves.

Ya know the bottom line is really this....If you have a great idea for a thread, then post the damn thing. If others agree...guess what, they will read it and respond. If they don't then I guess most people didn't care about it.

As for all of us who come to take a break from the daily grind, I plan to continue that and hope others do too.

When I get board with this place I'll leave probably without even starting a thread telling everyone I'm leaving too. If I have any friends here....and believe it or not I have a couple so far, I'll let them know in a PM.

Now does anybody have any good brain mush I can kick back to and read?

Good thread and well said. I don't see any contradiction between what I said and what lavender said. Anyone who does probably didn't read either thread very carefullly and just formed an opinion based on their pre-conceived notions of what they expected to read, what they expected of me, what they expected of lavy, and what they ate for lunch that day.

I didn't post to Dillinger's thread although I did post to Lavender's...but I put that down to eating tuna sandwiches for lunch

Here we go again. It seems to me that many members of this community speak to issues like free speach and individuality without truely accepting that people can be different. We now have a new category of nicey-nice. We have vanilla folks, nicecy-nice folks, trolls, freaks, kinks, obnoxious assholes and various other "types" of people. I sometimes feel that there is an effort to form some sort of lit club where all the members are free to speak what they feel so long as they comply with the club rules. Of course the rules of the club change hourly so how is one to know when that border has been crossed. I see no conflict in posting to both threads mentioned above. I listen to others opinion and rarely am I swayed to change my own. I am not offended by those opinions except only rarely. Dang it folks this place should be fun, and a place to meet people, and maybe just maybe make a few friends. God help me but I even learn things here. I refuse to be categorized by anyone else and I will not live up to anyones standards but my own.

Uh oh. I think I just became a bitch again.
