Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

I've got my hot chocolate and butterscotch schnapps. My heavy blankie is on my bed, my dogs are curled up at my feet and we are supposed to get ten to fifteen inches of snow between tonight and tomorrow. I say Let it snow!!!!:D

I'm ready...did my store run. I'm set.

Bring it on Old man Winter.

I've apparently just gotten back from a concert dress rehearsal just in time--but we're expecting an ice storm rather than a snow storm. Ugh.

We were supposed to get hammered, but according to a look outside and a glance at the radar, we may have missed it.

But the night's still young.

I'm actually looking forward to it. We haven't had much snow in about three years and I've really missed it. I'm one of those nutty people who like to drive in snow. I am worried a bit about my dogs. If we get fifteen inches of snow, they won't be able to move in it. They are both toys, as in little.

We were supposed to get a couple of inches last night. Instead we got a mix of sleet, freezing rain and just a smattering of snow. The trees are a bit icy, but it was cloudy and gloomy all day so they never sparkled in the sun. It's just grey and yucky out there. The whole place looks rather like the parking lot of the evil empire. *sigh*

I'm jealous. I never get to see snow :(

On the other hand, I did just successfully (I think!) make whiskey caramel sauce for my pecan bread pudding that I'm taking to a holiday party tomorrow. The recipe's amazing, but caramel sauce is so difficult to get right. One stay sugar crystal and you get a mess...or, on the other end, you might end up with a pot of rock-hard candy. Got it right this time...I think. Tastes good at least.

I wish I was getting ten to fifteen inches.

Of snow.

*pout*

It's been spitting snow on and off all day, taunting me, enticing me, tickling me. Damn it! Good thing I'll be getting a major snow fix in approximately one week. :) Life is good!

That's cruel. It sounds yummy. I'll send you a box of snow, you send me the caramel sauce...

I did my grocery run; water, soup, pizza and tiramisu (why did someone have to mention that?) The car is in the carriage house, the fire is popping, and I'm ready to write.

ETA: Dang, forgot the burn ointment. Darn woodstove!

I like your life, Magica. :) :rose:

I even managed to get rid of the teenager. She's at a friend's house until the snow stops and the roads clear. Come on snow!!!!!

 Oi, yi, yi, the caramel sauce. Well, the first batch turned out tasty...but all wrong. Why? Because it turns out that the stores now make a "non-fat" half-n-half--which sound like an oxymoron to me, but that's what I mistakenly picked up and added to my boiling sugar. (Why make a non-fat half-n-half? Can it even BE half-n-half if it's non-fat?).

It turned out nice and creamy and way too pale...and would not thicken into a sauce. Very runny (surprise, surprise!). Also too sweet as I added too much brown sugar syrup.

So. I got some REAL half-n-half, tried it again--with a lot less brown sugar corn syrup as I'd run out of the stuff. I used regular brown sugar as recommended by the recipe...but that meant that I risked the thing ending up grainy (because there's not enough to "wet" the dry sugar. Right color this time, a rich caramel brown, and the taste was more intense caramel flavor than mild caramel...but it didn't come out smooth. It's grainy. *Sigh*

I hate this sauce. I think I've made it right all of one time. Anyway, I've done what I could to smooth it out, and if it tastes good enough, that's what's going to be offered as a topping. But if anyone has the secret to fool proof caramel sauce, I could sure use it, 'cause every bit of advice on the internet contradicts every other and I just can't figure out how to get consistent results from this darn recipe.

We got about 6 inches so far. I paid a neighbor boy to help me load firewood in, and the fire is toasty. I just finished a bowl of the stew I made and I'm enjoying a very quiet evening in front of the fire while my kid is snowed in with my mom about 70 miles away. Peaceful here. And the good part is that I've been writing all day. Haven't had a chance to do that lately.

I had two days of cross country skiing from the previous storm -- but now this one is supposed to be freezing rain -- which is no fun. Even today the snow which had been great for skiing yesterday had turned to ice -- and it was cold and windy.

Well -- last Sunday the weather forecast got changed at 9 Sunday morning, so maybe they are wrong this time also.

I'm just wondering what happened to Global Warming?

Would one of you good people shut the door on the Mason Dixon line. That damned north wind is whistling in the eaves. It's 43 degrees but the wind chill is ridiculed.

I haven't looked outside recently, but the last time I took the dogs out, it was snowing. My little pom thinks snow is a lot of fun but he hasn't seen too much of it yet. I waiting for tomorrow when I put him outside and he disappears. We'll see how he likes it then.

I'd offer to come keep you warm but not sure I could get through the snow drifts.

You keep that puppy safe. The princess would be very disappointed if something were to happen to him.

It's still coming down here and I love it.

You ain't kiddin'. It'll probably freeze tonight, seeing as how it's dropped to the mid-forties here as well. Alas, of course, no snow.

What if I do the shoveling? ;)

Psst. Congrats again on your well-deserved win.

Bwahahahahahahaha

Currently it is 75 degrees here.

On the other hand I mentioned to my wife and parents that I would love to see it snow here once. Not because I like snow mind you, or the cold for that matter. I would love to see it snow here in order to watch the locals, (not to mention the Snow Birds,) Lose their minds.

Can you imagine these people here in south Florida, (who forget how to drive when it rains,) trying to drive when it is snowing? I would pay to watch that.

Assuming, of course, that you're well away from the road and you've erected a sandbag wall around your house . . . .

I can only imagine what would happen if it snowed here. This city is already on record as having the worst drivers.
