I was listening to my usual sports radio this morning and there was a report on a womens soccer team - where the manager has resigned.

Apparently 3/4 of the team were lesbians and it was affecting their game - there were feuds - relationships going wrong - people not passing to each other etc etc

This sparked a bit of a phone in where other women called in and said agreed that if you are a straight women in soccer ( or other traditional male team sports ) then you are in a minority.

Apparently the womens English soccer team is mostly gay and this affects the straight women - who get excluded from the cliques and bonding that goes on.

There is no real point to this , but I found it interesting , as someone who has played a lot of team sports in my life it is an aspect that never arose - but it must add a different dimension if there was lots of sexual frission going on between teammates

I hear it's the same in a lot of men's teams too - who used my shampoo in the shower... that's not your shower gel... And there's all those misplaced hands in the rugby scrum...

I know - and trying to get a decent hair dryer and straightners mmmm.

I have watched womens rugby before and it is frightening, they are bloody animals , I have also played in a mixed team for a laugh - great fun in the bath afterwards :D :D

Do you think the Brazilian women's football team is filled with lesbians? Sheme, shame, shame...

What if some of them were trannies?

maybe this used to be true with some women playing sports but it doesn't seem to be today

theres a young girls football team here that i helped the coach with a few times ... most of the girls have crushes on david beckham the rest michael owen :)

lol i agree with you there but they are only young ... i think though that the profile of footballers as being more like popstars has got girls interested in the sport ... but thats not the reason they take it up its because they enjoy it

I thought the report was crap when I first heard it - but as the calls came in - there was a conscencus from the callers that at a senior level there is a problem

A girl who played at senior level for England called and said that out of the England womens squad - 3/4 were gay and it did cause certain issues amongst the squad.

There are a few openly gay rugby teams ( men ) - I wonder if hey have the same issues
I would agree that at young girls age it will be not prevelant

More importantly....

Do the women's teams swap shirts at the end of the match like the men do?

:)

a majority of callers is NOT authoritative statistics

Strikes me as ludicrous to call it a problem. If the balance was the other way then the same arguments could be made about the lesbians being excluded. People who spend a lot of time with each other tend to go through ups and down - people get on each other's nerves.

The measure of both friendship and professionalism is the same in this sense, at least to a degree. It comes down to: How well are you able to work through your differences and conduct yourself like an adult?

Hm. Maybe sports is just a microcosm of life?

That was the point - it started to affect the teams performance on the field - because there was relationship issues going on between the players

Hell it was a tablod report so it could be crap - but say you played in a contact sport where the teams were mixed - say 50 / 50 male female - I am sure you would get loads going on - could be a lot of fun !!

i appreciate you posting this gord but i do think its poop :)

i know some about the england female team and as far as i know none of them are lesbians

i think guys like the idea of women in football kits ... and the male over active imagination that makes them think abut what they might do in the showers after the game :p

I play women's rugby......but I'm not an animal......:(

figure of speech - what I ment to say was I was bit shocked at the ferocity of it all - I played rugby for 25 years and some of the tackles I saw going in at the womens match - no holds barred

Mind you they were all crap at kicking

why cant women kick a ball ??

I can attest to this. I managed a women's football team a few years ago - all the women were in their 20's - and it was like watching non-stop afternoon soap operas. Who's broken up with who, who's fucking who, who hates who because of what she did with the other who... ad infinitum.

When we played other teams in the league, it got worse. Flirting, jealousy, infighting.

lordy lordy. it was a taxing job. only did it for half a season.

In Denmark it's women's handball that is one of the most popular sports. Most of the girls are lesbians and they're all splashed across the tabloids. "Camilla's new girlfriend!", etc.

Same shit, different sport.

At my school...

The women's softball team is either bi or lesbian. Straight is definitely the minority. Other than that one sport, as far as I know most of the other women's sports do have some lesbian and some bisexuals but the numbers are at least even to the same numbers as the rest of college. In fact on the track team (which I'm on) I dont' know of any of the girls that are bi or lesbian...

I dunno just my thoughts and experiences.

Its a well known fact that most of the LPGA ( Ladies Proffessional Golf Association) in the States consists of Gay women.

The Womens Pro Bowlers Association in the states also has a large number of Lesbians.

I know a girl that is a pro bowler and she says its creepy the amount of Gay women on tour.

Call me a homophobe I dont care......whatever.
