I find this one really hard. I think my personality is masculine, but my appearance is very femme. I think I find outwardly Butch womens more attractive. I can relate to them more on a personal level too.

Drag Kings and Androgyny turns my head everytime. Plus, they tend to be rougher in bed and less demanding out of it.

I like femme. I guess it could be because I like guys too, so with girls I want the complete opposite. The softness, the long hair, the sweetness, the small hands lol. Just everything that is so completely "feminine" and different from a guy.

Hmmm..

for serious long term relationships, I find myself drawn more to Femme women. I consider myself butch and exceedingly Toppish, so therefore only a Femme will meet my requirements in the long term. However there is something to be said for drag kings...I love em. They are fun to play with, I just haven't really thought about them in a dating sense.

Brief stop by.

Pink Hypoallergenic Lube is a brand that a few of my friends seem to swear by for being very non-irritating.

Maximus (ugly name) and Astroglide are perhaps the best out there, but I don't know how hypoallergenic they are.

I agree with Sophia's friends that Pink is wonderful, but prefer it for playing in the water as it has a slightly bitter after taste and it doesn't wash off without soap...

My favorite is one that they carry at Good Vibrations (bottle is actually a lot prettier than the one pictured on the web site - purple and curvy). It's called O'MY NATURAL LUBRICANT, is organic, has almost no taste so you can taste your partner through it AND it has hemp which gives it anti-yeast properties (something I struggle with from time to time)...

Anyway, I swear by it and it works with latex...

Love butch femme play but also love butch butch play (to watch or to participate in when I am dressed in what feels to me like "butch drag") and femme femme play.

I feel like the perfect example of how appearance doesn't translate into behavior. I am very, very femme in my presentation but everytime I take one of those "how lesbian are you" quizzes that is dependent upon gender stereotypes, I score high in the "lesbian" category. I do my own house repairs, until cars got so complicated also could do a lot of my own auto work, enjoy the company of men, was a tomboy growing up - only girl in an all-boy club, like certain sports (football excluded - thank my negative reaction to growing up in Texas), and I often approach sex with what I can only interpret is a masculine ability to "compartmentalize."

Am very switch in the sheets - except when involved in SM play, am usually the top with my new lover who is soft butch (shaved head, cute boy clothes)... I have known stone butches, who I find very sexy, but who were such utter tops they accepted no reciprocation from their lovers - could not have an affair with a woman who is this butch-identified as I could not help but want to top more than occasionally... I know that among my friends, I am not the only "femme" who feels and operates the way I do.

So am not sure how or if, with the exception of some stone butches, our queer gender continuum translates into sexual play... I say long live sexual ambiguity and fluidity...

"Nude" lubricant: It's organic (which is a huge plus ) It's smooth and silky and slightly oily (just the right amount.. but is oil based, so unsuitable for latex condoms) Doesn’t stain the sheets. Wouldn’t recommend it for oral – not the best taste. I recommend for Self-love... Come on… you all do cyber – don’t beat around the bush about this!

"Probe" :Messy and ultra gooey and just plain Yuck.

"Eros Bodyglide": my personal fav... tasteless, odorless... soft as silk. Non greasy and easy clean up. and Hypoallergenic.

"Astroglide" is good also - but Eros is sexy. (don't think Astro is hypoallergenic)

"Pink" has very specific subjective connotations for me with an ex. I'll never be able to use it with another lover

So, here is my next question. I was wondering about toy etiquette. Like if one person buys the harness, does each person then pick a part that fits them best or what?

And it seems wierd to like, carry your stuff around, but what if I want it when I am alone?

Do you wait to get home to wash'em up or just ask, Hey, do you have a towel I can let me dildo drip dry on?

I realize a lot of this is personal preference and comfort, so maybe I am just wondering how you all have handled some of these situations.

Aphrodite! There are tons of books and essays on what is butch and what is femme; and it’s still being debated.
Briefly: Butch lesbians identify to varying degrees with what society associates as “masculine” attitude, behavior and energy. That identity can be very “soft” – more of an outlook on life than anything else – to very stone – on a sexual level someone who can pleasure her partner, but does not wish to pleasured in return, and dressing/behaving as a male (see “Boys Don’t Cry” as an example in film), to those who feel that they are male, trapped in a woman’s body -- and that crosses over to the transexual; I should add that most don't.
Femme lesbians identify with “feminine” attitudes; with the distinction from other lesbians that they are usually strongly drawn to butches – the attitude and the taking of the later of erotic responsibility is what stirs them deeply. Although often confused with “lipstick” lesbians, they aren’t.

Butch and femme are not parallel with either dominant/submissive or some analogy of traditional heterosexuality. While they can incorporate elements of either, or both, they have their own unique culture.

Tx for ya wise words Cupcake i've wondered thru my lesbionic life what the big deal was with fem and butch. I never did get it an i still dont. Ive never seen the stereotypes "work" the way theyre supposed to. Almost every gay couple I know is not stereotypical.

On yer quote above ive gotta disagree. Most femme gay females i know are not attracted to butches and most butches are not necessarily attracted to femmes. Especially in the past 10 years ive seen more femme femme couples than i have others. Guess itsa attitude thing like weve said before.
