Length: How long is too long?

So the new piece I'm working on is probably going to tap in at around 50k in words, it's an Incest/taboo piece and I'd rather post it there. Is that too long for one story, do I need to split it up? I'd rather it be one story, but I know I've exited stories that were crazy long at times. Any thoughts would be appreciated, and thank you all for your time.

Cheers!

Most books average to around 500 words per page, so you're looking at a 100 page book (approx).
I would definitely split it up, but that's just my opinion.

Long stories do surprisingly well at Literotica. Your story is the length of a short novel, but there are plenty of examples of stories of similar length that have done well at Literotica.

If your initial preference is to publish it as one story, then do so. It will do fine. Some people won't read it because of its length, but many will, and by publishing it as one story you won't experience the attrition you would if you published it in chapters. Plus, there are some people who do not read chaptered stories.

The key to longer stories is to keep the plot moving and leave the reader not wanting to put it down.

If it hits her cervix, most of the time she'll complain - most find it painful. Some really like it. Just like a story.

50k words is about 16 LIT pages, not at all excessively long. You can split that if you wish -- and if the continuity is good -- but not for a contest entry. As mentioned, longer stories often do well with readers. G'luck!

Unless it's for a contest, I split up something that long. (The traditional definition of short story is a work that can be read at one sitting.) But it doesn't seem to matter here at Literotica if it's all run as one. Whichever you prefer.
