Legend of the Dragon Spiritmasters RP

After a few minutes of silence, Hiroku sighed. “Is this it? The other four are really abandoning their duty?”

Shirow smiled at the young woman who had mastered Ice. He was new to the powers of Spiritmaster, but fortunately had his own powers, centering around the sword. Still, he figured he'd learn most of it on his own. "Perhaps they believe we will suffice."

Frellya (ice)

Her voice is cool, "We will do our duty while they choose an different path"

Hiroku sighed again, then turned back to the others. “I will give them five more minutes. If they do not do their duty, they are not worthy of the Spirits they hold... I am serious. If the Spirits feel their Hosts have become unworthy, they will depart and find new Hosts.”

Then Hiroku looked right at Shirow. “By the way, if we do indeed face the Dark Ones, entering the battle with over-confidence will most certainly mean death. Fear and Pain let you know you’re alive and remind you of your limits. There is no shame in retreating from a fight to stay alive long enough to train a new generation rather than letting foolish pride impair your judgment and leaving no one to train the next generation...”

Shirow shrugged again. He knew that better than anyone. He was certain they'd encounter something interesting. "Fear begets a man nothing. One who is able to admit they are afraid becomes master over their fear."

Hiroku smiled. “Spoken like a true warrior. Fear and pain should be revered, not repulsed.”

Shirow nodded, then turned his attention to the jerky he was still munching on. He hadn't had time for a good breakfast, so he had to eat the dried meat.

Yawning softly the small form of Ki-Tae caught up with the other dragonspirits looking aroun deftly. Noting the serious expression on Hiroku's face she already surmised that there had been urgent news. "My apologizes for sleeping so soundly." She could be considered a late bloomer of the group. Sweet innocent, calm and collected particially naive if not completely.

"What has happened?" she questioned brushing at her night garments and taking a seat to be briefed currently. In the back of her mind she knew she had to be more aware of her surroundings. Although a master of her abilities, she still had a long way to go before she saw herself as a true master. She did look up to Hiroku and Freylla as they both showed great strengths.

Turning pale eyes upon Shirow she arched a brow at his cow's manner of mawing his jerky.

(OOC: Sorry for the late post last time I checked the thread it said it was dying, so this is the first I've seen of it since then. But I'm still willing to play if you'll have me.)

Arngrim came running down towards the stables, rushing recklessly cursing himself with each step. After hearing the dire news he had returned to his room wanting to rest up for the long journey, but he was far more used to sleeping on the ground as opposed to the comfy beds of the tower so he'd overslept. As he stumbled his way into the stables he looked around, noticing only four of the other spiritmasters present. "What? I thought I'd be the last one down. Did the others get tired of waiting for me and go on ahead?" He asked as he looked to the others questioningly, his appearance lacking any real decorum, his clothes were unkempt and only staying on by willpower alone it seemed and his armor was bundled up in his arms while his sword was precariously balanced atop it all.

"Sorry I took so long, I overslept again, I swear I should just start sleeping on the floor." He said unabashedly readjusting his clothing and putting on his armor, then lastly strapping his massive sword across his back. Surprisingly during this whole display he managed to not drop a single piece of his oddly balanced load. As he mounted Tyr, his grey Warhorse, Arngrim looked to his fellow spiritmasters once again. "So we ready to go? Finally a bit of action to put some of this training to the test." He said eagerly, oblivous to the obvious danger that the mission presented.

“Well,” said Hiroku after a long moment of silence, “It appears the other two are indeed unworthy of their Spirits.. I don’t doubt they will find new Hosts before long... Let us be off.”

Hiroku led the others out of the stables, and along the road leading away from the Spires. “It will take us about a day to get out of the forest, and another day to get to Arcanum.”

(OOC: If you have anything you want to do or say in these two days, do so. If you just want to get to Arcanum, reply with an OOC comment saying so. Then I will move it along to the city.)

(OOC: I vote to move on, unless of course there is some chance for me to get myself in trouble by trying to peep at the girls when bathing along the way. )

The ride through the Mist Forest was long and oddly quiet. Making camp just before the edge, the five of them barely slept. The following morning, they packed up and continued out of the forest and along the grasslands. The sky was clear and blue, and a light breeze cooled their faces. The day wore on, slowly turning into night.

“The city gates close after dark, and we can’t see the King till morning anyway. We’re only about an hour away from Arcanum, so we’ll camp here for tonight and enter the city tomorrow morning.” Hiroku explained, and they set up camp in the middle of a small group of trees, and sat around the fire. After another light night of sleep, the packed up and closed the gap between them and Arcanum. It was a magnificent city, stone walls erected all around it in an octagon, reaching nearly forty feet into the sky. At each corner was a watch tower, where they could see guards pointing at them. Directly ahead of them, they saw the massive iron gates that lead into the city. North of the city was the Crystal Deep, a massive body of water. South of the city was the river known as the Great Flow, which seemed to travel right into the city through grates at the bottom of the wall.

“Arcanum was placed atop the Great Flow, so that there is always water traveling through the city.” explained Hiroku. The team arrived at the gates, and a guard covered in silver plate armor with the Urmordian coat of arms on his breastplate spoke to them through the bars.

“Yer out early, travelers. These gates do not open till we see the full sun in the sky. It has yet to completely show itself over them there mountains, and until that time, there’ll be no admittance.” the man said with a tint of pride in his voice.

“Ooran, let them in!” squealed a smaller man with the same type of armor. “That’s Thunder Master Hiroku and the new Spiritmasters!”

“WHAT?!” the big man nearly fell down. “Nell, are you serious?! Oh, I’m so sorry sirs! Ma’ams!” Ooran’s fingers trembled as he tried to get the right key to unlock the gates. Finally getting the right one, he opened them and the five of them walked inside.

“Thank you, Ooran was it?” said Hiroku with a smile.

“Y-yes, Master Hiroku. My name is Orin. I-I mean Ooran.” he stuttered. Hiroku laid a hand gently on his shoulder.

“Relax. We’re no more holy than anyone else. We‘re just regular people who have some special powers to help others.” Then, smiling to Nell as well, he led his team into the city. It was indeed enormous: Shops and stores and taverns of all kinds, parks and houses and temples, farms and ranches and warehouses. From the guard towers to the brick roads, the city was build with unrivaled craftsmanship. In it’s center, the Great Flow spread from the southern wall to the northern wall, and out into the Crystal Deep. Hiroku knew that just beyond that wall were the docks and the ships of the Urmordian Navy, but they needed not think of that now. In the center of the Flow sat a small island, and atop the island was the Royal Palace, with a drawbridge at both the west and east ends. In addition, there were quite a few bridges up and down the river within the city.

“Isn’t the Palace beautiful?” said Hiroku as they stared upon it: It reached almost as high as the city walls, and was a shining marvel of blue and silver. Towers and turrets reached to the sky as well, and there was a giant clock tower at it’s center, which Hiroku informed the team told time by sensing the sun’s movements. It had been enchanted by a spell, and at that moment, read half past six.

“Master Hiroku!” called a familiar voice -- it was General Glenn Murdock. He was calling to him from the island, and instructed the guards to lower the drawbridge. “I’m glad to see you made it.”

The team was led into the Palace, through halls made of white marble, with paintings and pictures along the walls. After a few minutes, Murdock turned a corner and led them into a large sitting room with plush red armchairs and an empty fireplace.

“Please, have a seat. King Tristan will be notified of your arrival,” Murdock said with a smile, then left the room, shutting the dark oak doors behind him.

“Well, here we are,” Hiroku said with a sigh of relief as he sat back in one of the comfortable chairs. “We will sleep well tonight. The beds here are as comfortable as these chairs.”

“Isn’t the Palace beautiful?” said Hiroku as they stared upon it.

"Yes, Thunder Master. The Palace is quite beautiful." Frellya echos the senitment of Hiroku. The only thing she has ever seen was her own birthplace high in the mountains. Occasionally, the thought that she never see it again hurts, but she hardens her heart and remembers both her curses and her promises.

Frellya nods to the general before he leaves.

“Well, here we are,” Hiroku said with a sigh of relief as he sat back in one of the comfortable chairs. “We will sleep well tonight. The beds here are as comfortable as these chairs.”

"It will be wise to take advantage of comfort while we can. The easy part of our journey has ended and the difficult about to begin. We will need every advantage we can snatch. We can not afford to skip even mundane matters of personal maintanence. " Frellya sits on one of the chairs, but the straight backed unyeilding posture of her long slender body makes the lovely peice of furniture look awkward and ungainly.

The journey through the forest had been quite enjoyable for Arngrim, it had been too long since he'd been out in the wilds, the nights of camping had been more relaxing for him than it had been for some of the others but he did his best not to bother anyone about it. On the otherhand once they had entered the city he found himself quite nervous, never before had he been in such close proximity to so many people, nor had he ever gone to such a big city. Upon arriveing at the castle his nervous attitude only increased, he'd only gotten used to living in the towers, but now he was in an even more massive construct and he was obviously irritated and edgy.

As they were led to sit he'd heard Hiroku's statement about the sleeping arrangements, "Oh great, that puts my mind at ease. By the way I think I'm going to go back outside of town and sleep there." He said his hands gripping the chair.

“It may insult the King’s hospitality if you refuse his offer of shelter for the night...” Hiroku said warningly, then sighed and leaned back a bit.

OOC: Airatome will be taking the role of the wind spirit. We’ll act as though he has been with us all along.

Shirow raised an eyebrow, then sat down in one of the chairs. He immediately sank backwards, and had to grab the arms to catch himself. He hadn't expected the chair to be as deep as it was. "THAT's an interesting description of comfortable."

Ki-Tae squealed in delight taking a seat in one of the plush chairs. Her small form seemed to be overwhelemed by the comfort of the chair but she didn't mind so much. All throughout their trek to their current place, she had sensed water all around them. So eagar was she to explore and perhaps wash the dirt from their trip away she almost lost the beauty of the city.

((Airatome sat upright in his bed as a voice of another was heard not by his ears, but by his mind, warning him and no doubt the others of an impending danger to the lands. He looked out the spire window of his chamber and saw Master Hiroku was already greeting the arrival. He doned his cloth and sandals and procceeded down the spire with the others.

“It’s okay, he’s a friend,” Hiroku told the other Spiritmasters as they appeared. “This is General Glenn Murdock, he’s the commander of the Urmordian Army.”

Airatome bowed to General Murdock "Honor to meet you, General. I take it the message i 'heard' was from you no doubt?"

“I wish the circumstances for my appearance here were on peaceful terms, but unfortunately, this is not the case,” he said with a strong seriousness to his voice. “We have reason to believe that an evil force is gathering in the southern deserts of Padashan... But worse than that, we have reports from field agents that suggest these forces are being led by the Dark Spiritmasters...”

Hiroku’s eyes grew wide, but he shook his head. “That is impossible. The spirits of the Dark Dragons were destroyed for good centuries ago...”

“Well,” he turned to the others, “I’ll leave it up to you. I am leaving for Arcanum after breakfast. If you decide to come with me, meet me at the stables before I leave.” He then turned to Murdock, “If not them, I can guarantee my presence at the Palace in two days’ time.”

"Master Hiroku, as i've always been from day one, I am by your side at whatever fate throws at us." He then turned and left Frellya and Hiroku to themselves. ))

((Ok now that the recapp is done.....on with current times))

The journey into the forest wasnt quite as daunting as Airatome had first gathered and they reached the city uneventful. He laughed to himself at the humility of the guard they encountered, then on to the city. He was dressed in light cloth, a basic Gi and Tekko as not to inhibit his movement. He had a set of metalic armlets around his wrists/arms for deflection, and his set of twin daggers at his sides on his belt. His short black hair matching the color of his black cloth, and his eyes Hazel with a tad bit more green then brown.

Once they had been left in the waiting quarters Airatome sighed in relief. "As comfortable as these Chairs you say Master Hiroku? I'd have to say this redefines my definition of comfortable." He said as he sunk lazily into the chair. "So....now we wait?"
