Sorry, all. We need a Jim Rockford thread, I guess.

we could call it "Old Farts Remember....."

that way I could talk about Magnum P.I. shows as well

In an ideal world?

Hello. Please feel free to leave a message on nymphee's answerphone, however please bear in mind that I do not reply to double negatives, mispronounciations or or people who put an upward intonation at the end of a non-inquisitive sentance.
If you do not hear back from me, please don't bother giving yourself the benefit of the doubt.

Oh, you probably just liked his big mustach and tight shorts.

right, and you didn't! oh, thats right, no you didn't.

*sigh* straight guys, go figure.....

You have reached my answering machine but don't expect me to get back to you. I have run off to 1930's Paris to become the love child of Henry Miller and Anais Nin; once there, I will spend all my time fucking, scrounging for pennies and writing and I intend never to return. :D

LMAO. And another Rockford Files Junkie here, as well. Stephen J. Cannell is probably one of the greatest television writers ever.

I'll second that. I think he knows just how to write for the underdog, keep the story plot going and make a point at the end, almost like a moral. He's a real people writer, and that's what Jim Rockford was written as and how James Garner acted him as...real people.

I never saw him wearing shorts, though, Shank.

I watched James Garner in Rockford files also. But I loved him in the original Maverick.

Yeah I am THAT old!

Oh, I did, too. But, although he was quite good in that, too, I think he was better as Rockford. Maybe you are just more into cowboys and gun slingers, and I'm more into PIs.

And I'm firm on that.

No. His pants were tighter in Maverick. On that I am quite firm, and so was he many a time!

Well, I usually didn't look at that gun. So, I'll take your word for it...only because you are firm on it that he was firm.

Ah, the joys of syndication. Stuff that was on the air when I was a kid (Rockford Files) that I liked but didn't understand, I can watch now and appreciate on all new levels, besides just thinking Rockford was cool, Angel was an idiot, and Firebirds were the coolest cars ever.

And shows I didnt get to see because I wasnt born yet (Maverick), I get to watch and enjoy. Although, "Support Your Local Gunfighter" was probably my favorite all time Maverick appearance.

Last note on the side track - I think Shank was talking about Tom Sellek in tight white shorts, not James Garner.

Back on track: "Yep, it's an answering machine all right. Should I do the usual? Okay, you've reached - "(cuts off)

How come it has to get back on track when I post? Lord knows Shanky has highjacked many of my threads and no one seemed to mind. In fact, I bet he doesn't mind now. Sheesh.

He is hunky in my book now. But I am a senior citizen.

I don't care. Tom Selleck is a lightweight next to James Garner, and I am firm on that!

The hunky looking ones just get younger and younger these days. I feel like such a perv . . .

It's so good to see you posting more again. I never had a problem with his voice. I'm usually pretty particular about voices too since it's part of my profession. Antonio's voice can do "it" for me.

Not to mention any other part of him.

:D

Except he did marry that high voiced blonde icky chick. That doesn't bode well for his judgement.

Doesn't have to. I just changed my message, and wanted to share :D

King Con was the last novel of his I read - and truly enjoyed it, too. :D

And on the hunky guys track - Hugh Jackman and Russel Crowe are high points on my extremely short list of famous guys I would refer to as "hot" in public. Sellek and Garner both had their time, and their own charm, though. Sellek's voice was a little whiny, though...(or maybe Magnum was just written that way.)

Most of Ya'll are a lot younger than I am, so I just don't care about some of the younger men. And I think that Russell Crowe is a thug. Talented, true, but a thug nonetheless. Now Hugh Jackman is hot!
