I hate cemeteries. I think they're a complete waste of space. Hell, our Supreme Court can enable the uprooting of LIVING, BREATHING families while the dead suck up real estate.

Disagree with you on this one Imp. Cemeteries are fascinating places, especially when they're old.

For example, there's a cemetery about 1/2 an hour walk from me. It goes back to the 19th Century. I especially remember one plot, of a very wealthy family judging from the quality of the tombstones. The internment dates ranged over half a century, from about 1880 to 1930. The man, two wives and eight kids are buried there. The man was the last to be buried there. First wife died in childbirth. Only one kid of four from this marriage survived to adulthood. Second wife lived a while but still died before her husband. Only one kid from this coupling lived to adulthood as well.

Also buried here are people who died in the Boer War and WWI. And the Spanish influenza pandemic.

I always think, "What good old days?" when I visit here.

Cemeteries are history come to life, if that's not an oxymoron.
