Lap Tops ?

ooops

So, late this afternoon I "crushed inward" (guess my thumb is powerful) my laptop's keyboard's left-mouse clicker button. It doesn't look pretty, ladies & gentlemen...

...and that rectangular-shaped button looked a bit worse after my feeble attempt to fix it using a bent paperclip as the "lifting" tool.

Clicker no work no mo.

Go with a Dell, may not be the best value for money, but reliabilty, and service leaves all others in their dust.

Hi, Simply...nice to catch up again.

Altho I-books are great, you'd need to learn a new OS, I'm guessing your a Windows person.

Hi Draco. :) Yes, I am a windows person. And I don't mind admitting that I don't know my way around computers much. But I am saving this page for Jon, so he can look at everyones advice. He's the puter person in the family.

*Looking at the $20.00 and considering it. *..

Check out EBay for a second-hand keyboard. You should be able to pick one up fairly easily (depending on the model-of course.) They are really quite simple to change over. They usually connect to the mainboard via a small data-ribbon (Some models have two, one for the keys at front of mainboard, near the screen and another for the TouchPoint near the back (battery) end.)
OK, disclaimer time. This is general advice only. I have no idea what model your laptop is, so I cant be certain. If you dont feel comfortable or will void your warranty by cracking open the case. Get it down to your local service center.

(IF you want, PM me and I'll find what model/part numbers you need.)

Best of Luck with it.

No need for a bidding war bro, I'll get one while you fix that keyboard ...lol

You forgot to mention, sometimes getting the keyboard off is easy but it doesn't want to go back on!

Very true, they are tricky things to work on, fiddly little fuckers. I hate doing them, but the clientele demand it. Damn customers...who need em anyway...oh thats right...WE do...!!!

Time and patience....thats all thats required.

I see an opportunity to make money here.

But Draco, you know how fierce you Dragons can become when protecting your women.. I prefer to keep my dragon smiling.

Could you still give me the money though? :)

I too vote for the iBook. It's simply in a class by itself.

As for the whole OS X thing...

I wouldn't worry about it.

As long as your half-way computer savvy, you won't have a problem with it. You'll have it down in less than a week.
