On Nov. 23, Biden said that “We’re experiencing the strongest economic recovery in the world.” That’s a heady claim, no matter who says it. The thing is, Biden’s somewhat right. The U.S. GDP has risen by 6% since he came into office.

...

In that same Nov. 23 speech, Biden said that “our economy has created a record 5.6 million jobs since I became President on January 20th.” He’s actually spot on there because as of October, the U.S. economy has added 5,583,000 jobs, which is the largest number of jobs created in the first 10 months of any presidential term since 1939....

Biden has also bragged about how wages are on the rise for Americans. ... [H]e’s right. Overall, U.S. wages are up 4.9% between October 2020 and October 2021...

On Nov. 23, Biden also spoke about gas prices, noting that the average price per gallon in the U.S. is $3.40, but he tried to point out that the rest of the world is suffering as much as we are with higher prices at the pump...

Biden also spoke about making a difference in the supply chain crisis. He said, “In the past three weeks, the number of containers sitting on docks, blocking movement, are down by 33 percent.”

Buddy Holly is dead dufus...

(I think you fucked up, you should have shown cricketS.)

The Joe touts creating 5 million jobs, but ignores the 10 million unfilled jobs and The Great Resignation. He will crow about the unemployment rate that will come down again, while ignoring the fact that its coming down because it only counts people that are looking for a job. Gig workers and self-employed are outside the BLS counting scheme.

It pays to know in advance the Biden administration has some of the biggest liars in history in residence therein.

Hahaha.

Nothing comes close to the continuous lies of Trump and his administration. And you know it.

Which was Obama's doing, and you won't find any economist who says different.
The office of the Presidency has very little control over the economy. Obama and Biden haven’t claimed responsibility the way Trump did.

Ignoring that the president doesn't create jobs and that while Joe can claim some responsibility. I know my stimulus check basically replaced my wardrobe cus I didn't NEED it for bills. I was getting plenty of over time.

Gig workers should never have been a thing to begin with.

We should also ignore that unless you're counting the Stimulus checks and the BBB which we had no good reason to believe would get past Mitch. It could easily have crashed out.

The real bottom line however, and it pains me to say it, some of this is Trump. If we get to blame Obama's first year being piss poor on Bush and "deny" Trump his first year we have to accept that the economy is only partially the current presidents until he signs his first budget

Please share with the class exactly how President Biden is "responsible" for the Great Resignation.

I see the "Great Resignation" as a turning point in worker-employer relationships. People are 'voting' with their feet on this issue. More and more people are independently deciding that the increase in family income that a second wage-earner brings in is not justified by shoddy treatment in the workplace. My opinion only, YMMV.

Also I've been around longer than most. Conservatives managed to find the U6 under Obama, there is no reason they can't find it again. And Obama had eight years and never really explained that the snag with the U6 is it would count a house wife and a college student as unemployed.

To the extent that presidential policies can effect the economy, such prosperity as we had during the Trump Admin was Obama's doing.

It usually works that way, as such policies take time to work.

Four years ago, it was Trump claiming success for the strong economy.

~~ tee hee ~~

At least his claim was rooted in reality.

Joe Biden would kill to be able to make the same claim with a straight face...

And now, the Left is suddenly concerned and wanting to further cripple the economy
over a mild variant of Covid that creates no deaths or hospitalizations?

What's next? Seasonal flu lockdowns?

Panic <> economic health

If that were remotely true, Trump would have never been elected.

Obama had eight years to turn that ship around.

Instead he gave us the Exxon Valdez...

It's not going to cripple the economy. We've arrived at a different plateau of economic activity that assumes occasional lockdowns, etc.

He did turn it around within his term, and it would have gone better and faster if Congress had approved the stimulus bill as originally proposed in 2009.

Trump was not elected because the economy was in bad shape in 2016. He was elected for reasons far less rational, such as populist nationalism and Hillary-hate.

What's next? Seasonal flu lockdowns?

Actually, partially pre-planned lockdowns targeted at onset of fly season could be very effective, in theory. And if those are reasonably short, expected and predictable, possibly have minimal disruption. Only the shortness and efficiency hinges on universal compliance, and as is continuously proven we can't possibly have that.

Last year, most Americans that got the flu were assigned Covid. Covid is paid for by Uncle Sugar and the flu isn't. Hospitals and doctors know where their bread is buttered.

Won't argue it may not be possible in some situations, but actually, fly is simply more vulnerable to lockdowns and social distancing even when those are less than perfect, and thus it was wiped out. The fly season in US before covid was looking bad, but at least in the early stages the opposite is at least as likely, that not yet recognized covid was ascribed to fly.
