The Associated Press declared Democrat Kyrsten Sinema the winner of Arizona’s 9th Congressional District race on Monday, making her the openly first bisexual individual to be elected to Congress.

“I am grateful for the honor and the opportunity to serve the people of Arizona again,” she said in a statement. “My job is to represent all of the people in CD9 whether they voted for me or not. The voters have given us a clear ‘to do’ list – work to fix our economy, reduce our ballooning debt and better protect the middle class. I am eager to get to work and I intend to team up with anyone of any party who is willing to help change Congress and move our country forward.”

The LGBT community may have found a real Leader.

Plot Bunny?

I'd be pleased help her press her agenda. :)

Anyone whose name is an anagram of Kiss Me Tranney gets my vote :)

Anyone whose name sounds like a porn star, Christen Cinema.

Especially who makes statements like this: "I am eager to get to work and I intend to team up with anyone of any party who is willing."

Bisexual and bipartisan. The best of both, both worlds.

:D

With a name that sounds like a movie theatre, she's obviously someone to watch. . . .

Um, yay?

While Im glad for whomever finds victory in this, I do wish another poorly represented group could make inroads into the halls of power.

"Effective" congressmen and women.

If theres a group thats more underrepresented, I dont know of it.

She can reach across to my side of the aisle anytime.

How does the Associated Press declare somebody a winner? I would think that would be done by the AZ Secretary of State or equivalent agency.

But congratulations anyhow. I have some lady friends you might like to meet.

I intend to team up with anyone of any party...

While I hate to cheapen what is obviously a small but important step in the right direction, I can't help but feel there is a joke here...

She obviously has the right attitude on several level. :D

Larry "Wide Stance" Craig would point out that he was elected to Congress in 1980.

But he wasn't open about his bisexuality, if that's what he is. He kept the gay side hidden.
Back then, anyone who was openly gay was usually sent to a mental institution, or driven out of town in some areas.

I don't believe the mental institution would have applied in 1980, but his political career would have ended. Still, he couls have come out of half a closet a few years ago. Of course, In Idaho, this might not have been wise.

I have a friend that I perfectly fine with anyone being gay or straight but detests bisexuals.

LOL, actually so do I. They think that all bisexuals are basically just attention whoring.

Mhmm, me too. Of course, I simply have to present myself to refute that; I'm not exactly the kind of guy who craves or relishes indiscriminate attention from others. :D

Maybe the attention the new congresswoman is getting will go some way to helping with that, who knows?
