Ok...so people have been spouting off to me about krispy kremes for over a year now. When I lived in Boston we didn't have them so I couldn't try one, but I was assured they were amazing. My ex went so far one night (in a perfect mixture of exhaustion and saki) to say something like "if darth vader was in a light saber fight with dunkin donuts and dunkin donuts said that if you kill me I will arise again as a stronger better donut, that better donut would be a krispy kreme" (as I was drunk it was pretty damn funny...now that I'm sober and remembering, it...it was a pretty lame comment)

Anyways...so I finally go to a Krispy Kreme here in NYC, and I get the fresh hot glazed donut. I was all excited and I sat down and ate it.

Ok...I don't get it. I don't even think it was that good. I still like dunkin donuts glazed donut better.

Someone explain to me what the deal is with the krispy kremes. I mean hell they're making wedding cakes out of it now, according to an issue of people (not the most reliable source, but it was where I read about it while waiting to see the nice dentist)

I don't know.. I had one once and it wasn't all that good.

Dunkin Donuts 4 life!!

Dunkies' will forever be the champ. Hands down, i can't drink any other type of coffee, especially that Starbucks shit. And no other donut will do. Dunkies' RULES!!!

We had them in Baton Rouge when I was growing up and nobody thought a thing about them. They're donuts. We'd sell them to raise money for school. Big whoop.

Move to Austin and they're just getting Krispy Kremes. Everyone goes nuts, lines around the corner, people swearing it's manna. They're good donuts, but they're donuts.

(Though a late night, post-concert run to get hot ones and cold chocolate milk will seriously hook a brother up, yo.)

get em hot...... or pop em in the microwave.... they are sooo much better hot...

ooo and the chocolate glazed ones are sooo good.

*sigh*

Dunkin Dognuts hides the dognut maker in the back room. He is usually an exsailor and you do not want to see his special trick for holding the eleventh dognut. Krispy Kreme has that cool stainless steel assembly line that spits out the undercooked balls of goo at a rate of 10,000 bucks an hour.

Give me Granny's home made numbers anyday.

Or do your heart a favor and eat oatmeal.

I so love Krispy Kreme donuts. The cake is light and fluffy. The filling is airy and sweet. And they're consistent, unlike most donut shops. I want a box right now.

Damn, I could have sworn they used Angus Young (AC/DC) as their donut maker. The ones everyone praises about being made after an 8 hour concert, before he takes a shower of course.

Krispy Kreme's are something I eat maybe once every 6 months. When my wife and I want to sleep in on a Saturday, we will buy some donuts the night before so the kids will have something to keep them quiet. I seldom buy them for myself.

Duncan Doughnuts used to be very good...but did you notice that whenever you go in one, there's a "Flo" lookalike waitress who is more concerned with "Erve" the regular, or "Hank" the local handiman before they take your order? And even then, it's only after you cough *AHEM* for the 20th time, give her smoke signals, and send her a telegram?

I dunno which Dunkies you've been too, but i've been pretty lucky...then again, i'm turning into the regular there, so maybe i dont have the chance to notice it...although i think everyone at my local Dunkies works pretty fast, taking care of people. One of the few places left where i can say "medium regular" and i get regular coffee, with some cream and sugar

I've only had a chocolate one- it was okay. Not worth all the hype.

I second you on the coffee....I hate saying I'll take a double caffeinated, half-calf, creamy, sweet java just to get a regular coffee.

Krispy Kream is just sugar. Nothing else. It's like eating a spoon full of sugar. It hurts your teeth and you want to vomit afterwards.

I like them a lot. But here in Austin we're blessed with good donuts of various types (and Purrde, Bob and Wax n' Wane...if you haven't been to each of these places, go..try them! Trust me!) For me it's a matter of buying locally when possible.

For cake donuts, there's nothing better than Mrs Johnson's on Airport when they're hot and fresh and have that slight oil sheen to them still. Stay plain with these. Seriously. Plain, powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar. They're like manna from heaven.

For glazed yeast donuts, the saffron-yellow glow of Round Rock donuts is really hard to beat.

Everyone has different tastes I guess. There are people who have moved out of the South who get nostalgic for Krispy Kremes - I've seen these people go crazy over them in Austin.

I had Hot Krispy Kremes for the first time a couple weeks ago in Atlanta and they are really good. I always thought that they were just another donut too - but having them hot makes all the difference in the world.

I quite like Dunkin Donuts too - vanilla creme filled is my favorite.

But the BEST donut I've ever had is made by my local supermarket's bakery. Its two fluffy pastries filled with the most delicious buttercream.

I'm thinking the BEST donut ever would be the one that your cock was pushed through the middle of.

Not sure if it was the same place you are talking about, but I have been to a donut shop off of Airport, and yes, they were very good donuts. The smaller shops tend to have the better donuts.

All we have here are donut shops that are open for maybe 3 hours a day. And you would think that around an Army base, there would be 24 hr donut shops.

I totally agree. Nothing but marketing hype. The donuts are good, but certainly not the best.

And, they are physically smaller than Dunkin Donuts.
