For the record, real life stress put me in the crabby mood. Defending myself from someone who won't "get it" was the icing. Now as far as dogs vs. cats... to me it's apples and oranges and cats win.
(I have both BTW 3dogs 2kitties)

Sometimes I wonder if hetero women worry that they'll be less attractive to males if they admit to D wiring. Which seems absurd on the face of it, given the number of s-type males.

But then I start wondering if the problem is that they've been socialized to find s-type males unappealing, so they flip things around in their heads, pretending that the guy doing the petting and the tending and the putting up with the moody scratching, etc., is somehow the one in charge.

Maybe some ppl just like topping from the bottom and some like being topped from the bottom... Maybe some pple like a sort of flipped around version of d/s

Maybe kitty's and their owners are switches

Or maybe kitty play isn't d/s at all

what I do know is its not b/c I'm afraid to be who I really am... A cat is always who she is it's just that what that is is not always the same.

also, what was said about dog people is incorrect. Dogs are not all obedient and submissive. Dogs are pack animals and can be very dominant and aggressive, depending on their role in the pack. This is where terms like "Alpha" come in to play. In fact, I'd wager that most d/s play or whatever you want to call it is based on a dog model. Cat play is a different model altogether.

Ur not gonna understand us cat using a dog (Alpha beta) d/s model. Most kitties don't call themselves dominant OR submissive, they just call themseves kitties or maybe pets.

Please try to remember we are not all alike, we don't all want to play the same game or on the same field. You can't understand baseball through a football framework. Baseball players aren't socialized to not be able to admit that they really want to be quarterbacks. They don't hit the ball with a bat bacause they have some fear of grabbing the ball and running for the goal.

Cats know they don't fall into the preset "dominant" or "submissive" category. I just find it really sily that those who don't understand *us* are convinced that *we* are the one confused. We are not. We are not dommes that think its unfeminine to be dommes, any more than real cats are confused dogs who are socialized to think that being a dog is unexceptable.

Well I think its pretty simple - just try training a fucking cat.

Having said that, I'm really more of a cat person, I admire independence, and cat sex - biting scratching, screaming... I've never seen cats fuck, uh... casually, lol.

Just sayin'.

Dogs are loyal however, and that is a trait I also admire- they're always glad to see you, even if you've only been gone 5 minutes, and that can be very gratifying - you can count on dogs, whereas cats pretty much "belong" to whoever has the best food.

Cats don't slobber all over and lick on you like dogs do, although it's undeniably a lot more fun to get slobbered and licked on by a bitch that thinks shes a dog than it is by a dog.

I guess the nice thing about roleplaying is that you aren't necessarily confined to one thing, I find stroking the kitty very relaxing.

I'd totally love to see the possible dynamics of rat pet play included into thi discussion.
I'd totally comment on that from the perspective of an decade long rat owner (or pack member or whatnot).

Apart of that I'm a dog person, understand the cat persons pretty well and am secretly thinking that Stella and JMohegan have some kind of point here.
It was aamzing to read this thread! Very interesting and thoughtful and again a proof for the matureness (can I say that?) of this forum.
