Kitty Carnage

My cats are truly great hunters. They will track and catch anything living that gets into the place. The funny thing is they don't kill most of them. (I'll get to that.) They will catch whatever it is they find and then yowl until one of comes to investigate. As soon as we are there they will release whatever it is and watch us scramble to catch it. (If we miss they will catch it for us.) Then they watch us release whatever it was out side and then wait for their treats.

The only thing they will kill on sight are Palmetto Bugs. The cats go absolutely nuts over them. If one gets inside they instantly become Ninja Kitties until they catch and kill it. Then they stand around it yowling until one of us removes the carcase. (I have seen my cats do a bank shot off the wall and assorted furniture until they are at ceiling height to knock a Palmetto Bug out of the air.)

What is truly funny is how the cats react to other people in the place. Smokey and Bubba don't seem to care. Squeek, Scrapper and Magi all hide.

As for animals outside the place? They seem interested but just. When the neighborhood ducks wander by they just watch them. When the Egrets snack in the yard they sit there and ignore them. Smaller birds and squirrels seem to be of even less interest.

Dogs in the yard however are another matter. As soon as a dog comes into the yard the cats are all out on the patio watching. They are standing and attentative. Their tails and fur is up and their ears are laid back. They are ready to attack and defend. However when my parents bring their elderly mop of a dog over the cats either ignore it or look at it as a plaything. (Bubba)

We had a guitar playing cat for a while. She would go over and strum on the guitar for a while. Then my daughter would strum on the guitar. We thought it was very cute. Until a dead mouse fell out of the guitar.

But dead animals don't squirm when you play with them.

Er, not that I'd know that from experience or anything. ;)

My sister's cat loves to steal her stuffed animals and hide them all over the place. I found a plush Bowser in the kitchen one night.

My sister also told me that the cat tried to carry off her gigantic flamingo. This is one of those huge ones with the long legs. Man I wish I'd been there to see that.

I used to have two cats, a mother and her son. The mother was a short hair grey kitty, and she was sooooooooo adventurous. She'd run out of the house at the first opportunity, so whenever guests come or leave, we always have to hold her so she doesn't run out. She's also appearantly not very friendly with other cats, as this one time we took in a stray kitten, and she tried to kill it  so we had to let it go :( poor kitten... Once, when she ran out, she didn't come back for like 2 days. Later, we heard mewing on top of our house... and it turned out that she climbed a tree, jumped on our roof, and couldnt get herself down :/ We had to use a fishing net with a peice of meat inside to lure her, and get her down from there.

The son tho was a totally different matter. He was grey and white, and was oddly enough, long haired (i thought long hairs were recessive?) He was big and fluffy and silly, and he's TERRIFIED of going outdoors. When we have to take him to the vet, he would cling to my mother (he was her favorite) for his dear life, digging his claws in, frozen in fear. When he's in the car, he would make this really sad meow that just breaks your heart. Once, we took him outside while we had a garage sale, and after letting him run loose for a while, we lost him... it took us a couple hours, but it turned out that he was hiding behind a old washing machine that we tossed out a while ago. He was a true scaredy cat :p He's a weird cat... my mom frequently used him as a dumbbell (he weighed about 15 lbs) for excercising... he would stay completely still while my mom... or pretty much anyone, held him. Also, once while we were watching tv on the couch, he suddently JUMPED up from my mom's lap, and ran off... right across my face. I still have a scar on my jaw from that :/
Unfortunately... he died of kidney stone when he was only a little over 1 years old :( The neutering might have had something to do with it.... :(
The mommy cat we had to give away when we moved to the US, as the townhouses we got didn't allow cats... even though later we found out that lots of people there had cats anyways :/

Anyways... This was probably about 8 or 9 years ago. I haven't had a cat since... and for some reason, have developed an allergy to cats . Tho, i still snuggle and sniff them when i get a chance to with my friends' cats.

Ugh.

Well, they ate it. I mean, the thing had no wings, no feathers, the meat was stripped from the spindly little body.

It was basically a beak and sinew and feet.

The kids went - Cool!

Hey, its nature at work! ;P of course its cool!

The difference between cats and dogs is apparent

That is to any of us who have kept cats and dogs. I have. Still do. However as a more

This is an old joke, but still funny for those of us who keep cats. I'm not going to say own them, as I don't think you can own a cat. You might keep it for a while, but it's way too independent for that whole ownership thing.
