My cats are truly great hunters. They will track and catch anything living that gets into the place. The funny thing is they don't kill most of them. (I'll get to that.) They will catch whatever it is they find and then yowl until one of comes to investigate. As soon as we are there they will release whatever it is and watch us scramble to catch it. (If we miss they will catch it for us.) Then they watch us release whatever it was out side and then wait for their treats.
The only thing they will kill on sight are Palmetto Bugs. The cats go absolutely nuts over them. If one gets inside they instantly become Ninja Kitties until they catch and kill it. Then they stand around it yowling until one of us removes the carcase. (I have seen my cats do a bank shot off the wall and assorted furniture until they are at ceiling height to knock a Palmetto Bug out of the air.)
What is truly funny is how the cats react to other people in the place. Smokey and Bubba don't seem to care. Squeek, Scrapper and Magi all hide.
As for animals outside the place? They seem interested but just. When the neighborhood ducks wander by they just watch them. When the Egrets snack in the yard they sit there and ignore them. Smaller birds and squirrels seem to be of even less interest.
Dogs in the yard however are another matter. As soon as a dog comes into the yard the cats are all out on the patio watching. They are standing and attentative. Their tails and fur is up and their ears are laid back. They are ready to attack and defend. However when my parents bring their elderly mop of a dog over the cats either ignore it or look at it as a plaything. (Bubba)

He's a weird cat... my mom frequently used him as a dumbbell (he weighed about 15 lbs) for excercising... he would stay completely still while my mom... or pretty much anyone, held him. Also, once while we were watching tv on the couch, he suddently JUMPED up from my mom's lap, and ran off... right across my face. I still have a scar on my jaw from that :/
