Kindness and BDSM

I feel Kindness and Trust are a must in any relationship. BDSM or not. It makes for a strong foundation for everything else.

Whilst I enjoy bondage (both tying and being tied and the element of domination/submission that goes with that) I an not into any form of punishment/humiliation and so I believe that Kindness and loving are not incompatible with a bondage lifestyle.

Do you think you can be kind and philanthropic and have this interest? Or do you you put everything in a compartment?

Some very interesting and considered replies, and my own thoughts and experiences are mixed in there somewhere. As a Top, if that is the best definition of my particular interest, I am focussed only on giving her the best sub experience she desires so we both get satisfied. If I didn't care how she felt, or what she thought I would not, in my view, be very good at what I enjoy.

The sub really has more control than we like to think and ultimately can choose to find an alternative Top, Dom or whatever. Nurture their desires, understand and car for their wellbeing and the rewards for both parties are so much greater.

This site and others have their fair share of the "do it now, I'm your new boss" characters, but discerning subs and others know this is not the best way for most of us. Human first, Top second. Environmentalist a close third!

Just my view, but it is not only possible but preferable for a Dom to have compassion and understanding.
