There does not even appear to be any black-market economy. And, of course, everything you know about anything beyond the immediate sphere of your daily life comes from state media and very, very guarded word-of-mouth.

I'd be happy to be proven wrong, to believe the people are ready not only to overthrow this regime but to laugh at it, like Libyans now laugh at Gaddafi and his Green Book. But I don't expect to see that.
