When the snow and ice start to melt in the city, it makes the coolest streams of water flowing along the sides of the road (well, cool when you were a kid). The raging waters rush along under ice bridges and dams. Finally, they cascade down as they reache a storm drain, combining into a tumultuous waterfall. My friends and I would fashion little hovercraft out of paper or stick and toss them into the water upstream. We'd chase them, watching them race down the current, disappearing and reappearing from under the ice bridges. The first down the waterfall was the winner! Of course that elimnated succesive speedboat championships by the same craft.

Now that was fun.

How about street football? That 's where your field is the street. The bushes at the end of Nick's house are one end zone and the Fletcher's fence is the other. The sidewalks are out of bounds. Timeouts only occur when cars are coming down the street or someone loses a shoe.

What did you do for fun when you were a kid?

Played with explosives and firearms.

 Nananana I still get to play with them:p

basketball from spring to fall, baseball in the summer and football in the winter.
there was nothing better than winter football. sliding all over the place. getting tackled and hitting the ground hard didnt even hurt. ahh those were the days.

Rolling around in a barrel was a blast. Bike riding and china berry fights where fun too.

Actaully, when we got a little bit older, we woudl take apart firecrackers and remove the gunpowder to make our own "cherry bombs". We'd use a cardboard coat hanger for the body with candle wax on each end. I'll never forget the time one of the guys held the lit candle too close to the pile of gunpowder. It took a few hours before that big bright white spot went away from everywhere you'd look.

Oh yeah! We used to have some wicked apple fights! Then there was that time my brother and I went to the tomato farm with my mother!

Yeah, those were the days when nothing hurt! Now even touch football on the beach could be a potential hazard.

One time my mother started a food fight in the kitchen that got totally out of control...eggs, peanut butter, mustard, mayo, watermelon you name it...it was a blast!

Here was another city kid thing. You ever go fishing for "balls" in a storm drain? We'd lower a few coat hangers, fastened together with masking tape and a loop on the end, into the foul smelling water. It was always cool to walk around with the new ball that was once Joey's.
