Keyboard

I have no idea how people can write on phones. Or laptops, for that matter.

Ever since I learned the touch system (which can be done in about two hours by the way), I find typing on a phone extremely tedious. To the point where I install desktop apps for all the instant messengers I have to use, just so I can type on a proper keyboard.

Then again, I was told that my tech setup is a little autistic, so...

My wife got one of these but it had a shift key missing. Amazon just sent her another, Gave the broken one to me. Problem is, its bluetooth. Yes it makes typing easier, however, im afraid the bluetooth wireless might somehow mix up with hers. Shes texting, somehow as i write dirty thoughts, it might get crossed over. 😟. I know this is paranoia, But hey, can you blame me 🤷🏻‍♂️

That's a story right there ;)

I'm a bit old for writing on my phone. I touch type. I write on a laptop in odd places, and occasionally in the den where hubby has one of those ergonomic keyboards that looks like it was stuck in a microwave for fifteen minutes. It's really pretty comfortable.

I'd love to acquire a "Cherry" mechanical keyboard (like the IBM PS-2 things).
I could get up to a decent typing speed with it.

I've used a small bluetooth keyboard on my tablet, but it cuts my WPM in half. Still, it's better than nothing, my PC, monitor, and split ergo keyboard aren't really that portable and sometimes writing in the car or on the balcony is just too good to pass up.

My writing has slowed recently due to lifestyle changes that mean I don't get much private time to do it on the PC. I'm using my tablet more and more as a result, but I find I spend so much time correcting and rewriting that it is barely worthwhile other than getting ideas down.

If I was restricted to using a phone, I'd struggle to make the 750 word story limit. If the back key was Tippex, I'd be using it by the bathful. As an example, 'back key' on the above line ended up as 'back jet' and 'bathful' as 'bashful'.

I've published well over a million words in 60 stories on Lit and I shudder to think how many keystrokes that has taken me. Even with a nifty keyboard, the phone would just not be an option.

I write on my phone, which is convenient, if sometimes cumbersome. During my recent trip, I bought an external keyboard for it.

I’ve not worked out how to use emojis yet. But, apart from that, it’s greatly improved my productivity and accuracy [this is not meant to be an infomercial - sorry].

Anyone else do this?

Em

I may have to look into one of those.

Thanks for the tip.
