I write on my phone, which is convenient, if sometimes cumbersome. During my recent trip, I bought an external keyboard for it.

I’ve not worked out how to use emojis yet. But, apart from that, it’s greatly improved my productivity and accuracy [this is not meant to be an infomercial - sorry].

Anyone else do this?

I have a similar one for my Samsung tablet. It's a little small for my fingers, but a lot better than tapping on my screen.

If I have to type anything more than a forum post, short message, or email on my phone, it irritates me to such a degree I more often than not abandon the attempt. I need a full size keyboard (laptop pc) for anything more than 50 words.

I guess that shows how young I'm not.

I haven't used one of those, but that's because I never write on my phone. It would be convenient for when I'm away from home, however. A lot cheaper than buying a laptop.

Corsair gaming keyboard, two Dell S3422DWG 34" Ultrawide monitors.

It would drive me crazy to use some finickity keyboard or to type just on my phone. So much slower, too.

I have a foldable Microsoft keyboard. It's pretty good. The keys have a good feel, and aren't too small.

I've got a folding one from Iclever. Big enough that it doesn't feel cramped, though their ones with the touchpad are both too small for me and formatted weirdly to get all of the keys to fit.

I write zero erotica on my pc since my kids got old enough to read the screen 😅 I do it all on my phone. I (and my joints) would prefer to sit up and type but I daren't risk it.

I wrote a 60k word trilogy on my phone. Then I’ve had to re-edit it a lot 😬.

Isn’t it ironic? Just had to fix a typo above 🫢

I abhor writing on my phone. Maybe I'm too old school, having learned to touch type in high school, on that relic from years gone by, the typewriter.
Nowadays, I still prefer the full keyboard and mouse of my laptop. Haven't mastered the touchpad and doubt I ever will. It's set to disable if a mouse is connected.
Fallback is my tablet, but for writing only. Review/edit only on the laptop.

I carve my stories on a bone after I've drawn the marrow. The ravens take the bones to the balefire, where the flames devour them. Somehow or another the words end up here about 16 hours later.

I’ve got that same model but as part of a cover for an iPad. It works great, although I don’t travel enough to use it often.

One nice benefit of using an external keyboard is that you have the full screen on the phone, instead of half of it taken up with the keyboard.

I have three monitors on my home computer, and it's so awkward when I have to use just one. Having the space to put multiple things at once without switching back and forth is so nice.

I couldn't imagine writing on the phone or even typing on a keyboard such as yours but still looking on the phone and therefore lacking a proper mouse? Only a proper desktop PC is worth being called a computer.

So you are carrying a phone and a keyboard as well when you are travelling? I might be way ahead of my time, but there are these new amazing things called laptops... I've heard such stories about them!

I tried this a while but found that my phone and laptop had different use cases.

If I'm settled enough to put my phone and a keyboard on a surface, I might as well use my laptop. My phone is for odd moments (lying in bed, waiting for an unpredictable period of time, etc.).

Sadly, my life allows many more of those than extended sit down writing sessions.

There are a few advantages I think, especially if you don't need a laptop with you for other reasons like work etc.

WiFi works better on the phone directly rather than as hotspot for laptop. Also phone holds charge a lot longer. Also the screen is small so its harder for people to perv at what you're doing. Phone, even phone plus mini keyboard is lighter and smaller if you're traveling without a big bag.

There's no way my well aged, and stiff thumbs could write a story on a phone screen. I use my laptop to write, but I use a full size wireless keyboard on a lap desk so I can sit back and write comfortably. My laptop is a 17", but the keyboard is still awkward for me to use. It's too compact

Meant to say - it’s also helpful that I don’t have half the screen lost to the keypad.

I have a battery keyboard & mouse I use with my iPad and often use it at work as well. At home I have a very old MacPro with all the trimmings ( and it heats the room for me )
