Kentucky Derby winner cheated...again

Baffert to reporter...

Ha! Oh yeah, now I remember. It was a topical ointment for dermatitis *points at picture from somewhere* so as you can see so no illegal injection. I’ll have a word with the veterinarian who prescribed it, but it’s clearly all a big misunderstanding. We feel vindicated and have high hopes for the Preakness.

Doesn't matter. Zero tolerance is zero tolerance. Revoke the win...give a 5 year ban to Baffert. We all know it is a lie, but the message is the same

That’s my point, yeah. A bullshit excuse hoping to skate by. And so far so good..****nning next week.

M sure conniving and power plays behind the scenes.

Has there ever been a race of any kind where someone wasn't cheating?

Why have rules then? Why do you care if a transgender woman plays high school female sports but not if a horse uses a BANNED substance that has a ZERO tolerance?

The point is EVERY other horse followed the rules...including the OTHER Baffert trained horses. ONLY the horse that had the greatest chance of winning didn't. All trainers know ...all vets working these horses know what can and cannot be used. This was a conscious decision. Just like the four other failed drug tests by Baffert this year alone.

The banned compound was most likely used as an ointment. It was done to reduce inflammation in the joints...to make the horse run faster without pain. It was not used for dermatitis. The fact it was found in the blood proves it worked. End of story. Baffert admitted using a banned substance. If the second test comes back positive...which it will...the horse must be stripped of its win and Baffert must be punished. I do not support a lifetime ban. But 5 years is warranted. This maintains integrity.

So if the race result is nullified, what happens to all the betting wagers that were "losers" after the day of the race? Do the punters get their money back?

Can you say "CLASS ACTION"?! lol

The race isn't nullified...just one horse is eliminated...meaning the second place horse is now the winner...ect. But when it comes to betting...nope...that money is gone...( fine print on the ticket). This is why it is such a big deal. What I expect, is horses will be tested both 1 week prior and right after each big race. The horse should never been allowed to post.

See how both of the cheater's horses tied up in the stretch in the shortest race of the Triple Crown? Watch the race...you could see both horses slow and stiffen. That is what happens when joints hurt and why Baffert was using the cream in the first place. How bad is it? They have already announced they won't run in the Belmont...the longest race.

No stud fees there...

The State of New York has banned Baffert from entering any horse at any track in the state based on the previous five failed drug tests. Final determination as to the length of the ban will be made once the second results from the derby are released. If the second test comes back dirty...he is done. A five year ban is fair...at at his age...that is a death knell.

Baffert is still riding high as are the other owners of the horse. Yeah it was a failed test but that horse still "won" the Kentucky Derby and that's all the breeders will care about. Dude's gonna spend the rest of his days banging fillies and filling insemination cups.

I grew up in Louisville and went to a few Derbys and actually ran into Bob Baffert a couple of times before he got “famous.” Affable enough fellow, but still overly full of himself. He should be banned from entries for a few years (he’s already a millionaire) and the horse that won disqualified (which is a shame for the horse since he ran a really good race).

So is there an ointment vs injection loophole that Baffert is hoping for? At that level the pros can’t not know what’s in anything that gets near their horses. So the “who knew?” excuse is bullshit, but maybe an escape clause that would salvage the win?

Odds are the owners will sue him. I doubt the owners knew anything.

I doubt there will much demand for this horse as a stud. Sure...he ran a good race dirty. Clean...the horse had no legs in the shortest race of the Crown. It shows the legs are weak. Watch the race...it was as if you could watch the horse get stiff around the final turn. They knew this ( the horse had weak legs) and that is why they cheated

Two year ban is better than nothing...but I still stand by my belief 5 was fair.

How many years has it been since you have left the domicile?

Tis Otay now. Mask up, venture out. See, hear, smell and try to relate with the universe. Uncle Joe sez it's okay.

Everything is all OK.

Whoa Nellie!!!!

NEW YORK (AP) — A New York federal judge on Wednesday nullified the suspension of horse trainer Bob Baffert, finding that the New York Racing Association acted unconstitutionally by failing to let him adequately respond to claims made against him after Kentucky Derby winner Medina Spirit failed a postrace drug test.

In her written ruling, Brooklyn Judge Carol Bagley Amon said a prompt post-suspension hearing where Baffert could refute the claims was required to meet constitutional muster.

But she said the racing association “had held no hearing — let alone a prompt one.”

Always bet on old money. Wow.

America reckons it is the land of the free yet it needs a pox on society - a lawyer, to pontificate on the outcome of a horse race.

At least the horse remains disqualified, its reputation properly sullied.
