Kegel Question

Ladies, when you correctly perform a kegel exercise contraction, does your sphincter move? A little, or a lot? Inwards or outwards?

Being male, I don't have a vagina I can insert a finger to feel the squeeze action. So, I'm looking for other indicators I'm doing it right.

(Male kegels are supposed to decrease prostate problems and increase ejaculation strength.)

This thinking led me to another woman only question. For those who do lots of kegels every day with well toned pelvic muscles:

When you're having PIV sex, does your body squeeze your muscles most of the time?

Does squeezing increase your pleasure?

Do you consciously think about doing so, or it is more of an automatic/habitual thing?

Thanks!

For me, kegels are something I do consciously because it changes the sensation for me and him... I don't do them constantly during sex, just here and there because otherwise I'm thinking about the squeeze too much and it becomes distracting. But when I'm having an orgasm the squeeze happens naturally.

About the sphincter, I read that for kegel exercises, it's best to do them with empty bowels and to relax as much as you can otherwise most of the squeeze action is from the sphincter.

kegel exercises are actually initiated at the level of the pelvic floor (higher in the body than you may be thinking). Some people can use visualization to find the sensation... almost as if you take hold of the pelvic floor at the fullest part of your inhale and draw it upward with the exhale. You may feel a contraction in your sphincter as you strengthen the pelvic floor contraction; but you should not feel it there upon initiation.

once you find that contraction, you can choose whether or not to include other muscles. My favorite is to kegel.. hold that while contracting the abdominals.. release the abdominals.. and finally release the pelvic floor.

to keep those muscles from creating problems associated with being too tone/unbalanced, it is important to work the muscle in the opposite direction as well. To do this, some people will allow the muscles to "bulge" with the release.

currently, ACOG recommends 100 kegels/day for women once they reach childbearing years. I do not know the recommendation for men.

While kegels involve the sphincter, I am most aware I am doing them in my vagina. Sometimes just doing the kegels feels pretty good.

I've not seen any advice about doing kegels for men. I thought it was a thing which, pretty exclusively, involved the vagina. Maybe there's a name for the equivalent exercise for men?

Thanks for the good answers! :cathappy:

The more I try to minimize the sphincter in my kegel, the more it resembles an ejaculation pulse.

@klayton, kegels don't directly involve the vagina (or sphincter), but the pelvic muscle everyone has.

For a guy the best way to learn how to Kegel is starting and stopping the flow of urine. The stopping of the flow is the proper muscle contraction. Once you get the hang of it start a training regimen. Like 5 contractions for 5 seconds each 3 times a day for a week. Increase by 2 contractions and 2 additional seconds of contractions for each set each week.

For me it's just involuntary after so many years. I realize I'm doing it at the most random times. But so downloading the app hahaha love it!
