Trump is making news by talking to Carrier execs who are in the process of moving the air conditioning manufacturer to Mexico.
I see that as a positive.
Why isn't Obama doing the same?

I don't see that as the function of a president. If it's just talk about being patriotic and keeping it here what would be the point? They already know and use the concept of buy American-made in their advertising. Responding to appeals to patriotism would be not a good way to run the business. If it's about doing something specific to make it more hospitable to buy labor in America, I can't imagine what that might be that the president is empowered to do.

Maybe this is about a celebrity endorsement? That might work.

I'm thinking more like celebrity encouragement. I don't mind the bully pulpit, but it needs to stop there.
We don't need a president who threatens or otherwise interferes with private sector executives.

I could see how some positive publicity could help them stay viable in the u.s. for a. Of time until such time as that publicity bump days off.

A better Labor Relations Board could definitely help. Prevent unions from engaging their usual extortion tactics. Their "Go slow, save a job for a union brother!" ideas and their unnecessary employees with their shop rules. For sure the first thing I would chamge is any company having to pay a single dollar for union employees who are not actually working at the company; that working for the union agitating and getting paid by the company. That's bullshit.

In about 1987 I was working at a steel fabrication shop I was amazed at some of the steel we were working with came out of Japan. When you think about it that makes absolutely no sense. They have no iron ore. They have no coke. They have no coal. They have expensive electricity rates, and they have an expensive, highly skilled workforce. How can it possibly be cheaper to take old Detroit iron, crush it, load it on a container ship, ship it to Japan, melt it down and roll it into steel stock, ship it back... and it's still cheaper than American steel?

Carrier has still got to cut expenses. I'm sure they probably already are doing some component assembly in Mexico most likely they're importing the steel that they use for their cabinets. Copper is probably us-sourced. I would think the compressor is probably come out of Japan and the electric motors probably come out of China.

There's really no such thing as free trade. Trade isn't free and I suspect that America's version of free trade is very much like the unilateral nuclear disarmament movement. The theory being that if we act friendly to everybody else they'll just respond in kind.

A lot of things get very complicated when you get down in the weeds on components. For example it's illegal to import certain exotic wood into the United States and turn them into guitar necks, but if you turn them into rough guitar necks in their country origin, it's legal to import these rough cut guitar necks and finish them appropriately in the United States.

Slapping tariffs on products coming out of China is all well and good but there are certain products that you cannot manufacture outside of China basically. They have nearly cornered the market on rare Earths. They insist that if you need some of their rare earths in your product, that the manufacturing of the portion of that product that involves the rare earth be done in China in Chinese factories.

Almost every part of that post is inaccurate.

As in CNN/InfoWars inaccurate.

I'm a fascist for a few simple reasons.

In fascists nations if you sell it there you gotta make it there. And youre free to do all kinds of things illegal in America so long as you keep your fun off the public streets. One more thing, in fascist nations arabs and chinks cant buy your industries and institutions as happens in America. I imagine a drug cartel owns Carrier.

Carrier makes air conditioners.

Air conditioners use energy.

Energy pollutes ergo,

Carrier is the

Enemy...

:(

The strange attractor to this chaotic business model is the [business] tax rate.

Il Trumpe has vowed to reduce it (along with regulation) which then becomes a major consideration along with the PR value of "We're the company that decided to...

;)

STAY IN THE USA!!!

You are in favor of a strong executive who can centrally plan for the benefit of the collective?

Power of the PULPIT, clown!

Cunt Shit, like BC and abortion isnt a Pres thing either, but you TURDS always attack a Repoh for shit like that

Tranny bathrooms isnt a Pres thing, yet NIGGER made it so

A cop AXING a NIGGER something in MA isnt a Pres thing, but NIGGER made it so

POWER OF THE PULPIT, clown!

Pres Dee Trump cant force Carrier or anyone to stay

But he can get out there and say

CARRIER LEFT THE US, FORCED YOUR NEIGHBORS UNTO THE UNEMPLOYMENT LINES, WHEN YOU BUY AN AC, THINK ABOUT THAT!

You tell me what will happen

I would correctly realize that my neighbors priced themselves out of the world labor market and I frankly wouldn't give a shit. I'm not going to purchase an inferior product at an elevated price. If we're going to just make up jobs for people who aren't worth the money that they insist on being paid, let's just start the WPA up and be done with it.

If Carrier can build a competitive product at a competitive price, I'll buy it; if they can't I, won't.

I sure as hell wouldn't buy a Chevy even if you gave me the money to buy it with. I would consider buying a Ford not because it's a superior product but because it has just enough cool built into some of it that it makes up for being an inferior product.

If Carrier wants to paint the rooftop units a bitch'n color that would be the envy of all my neighbors maybe put red white and blue stripes to appeal to my neighbors easily swayed by false sense of patriotism then I might consider such a thing.

Wal-Mart used to be the place to find products that were made in America. Then they changed to become the place to find cheap prices on foreign goods, and their profits soared. Nobody cares about the made-in-America tag.

I think we have had about enough of them waving bye-bye to these people as our future crosses the border.

Someone needs to start saying hey! Hang on a bit we are trying to fix this so that you can stay here and make a profit and our people can make a decent living.

I have bought stuff that has the manufacturing plant in Mexico and the shipping warehouse in the USA.

The prices still shoot up and the delivery time gets longer and ASCO makes more profit.

State and local governments offer businesses incentives to stay or to come all the time. Tax incentives, utility incentives. Short of busting the unions, there isn't much they can do to lower the cost of labor, and that's a biggie.

Which is what's so great about having Trump as President. Can we try something new for a change?

I know that for you, Walmart is the goto bad guy...

:(

But they were actually the last to cave to price pressure because most of you faux patriots thought shopping there was deplorable and instead preferred the upscale TAR-JAY (just as an example, there were many others like MACY'S) and it's non American goods.

So Cong Errs, by saying its NOT a Presidential thing, when it clearly is

Addressing the "so called post" you made......who said its an inferior product? YOU DID! based on what? You think Chinks n Mexicants and MexiCunts make better shit? NO!...no one says you should buy an inferior product, so that part of the so called "post" is CuntClintonesque, aka, Bee Ess

And NO, Carrier, cant, no one can build a product here for the price for what they can make it where they get paid a buck.....BUT, they will figure it out....They have no choice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember, this is now Trump'Murca, not Nigger'ussa, it can be done

Remember when auto companies were mandated to increase fuel econoy? They bleated that they couldnt, they bleated that foreign companies will kill US production.....BUT THEY DID

When you have to, YOU CAN DO IT

I would erase your post if I were you

Carrier is owned by UTS, which employs 200,000 people and more in the US than anywhere else.

Domestic A/C is low tech and well suited to a 3rd world production environment.

DT is trying to give the appearance he is trying to do something for his voters. Surely its better than a wall if you take jobs to Mexicans in their country rather than have Mexicans come to the US for work.

American industry already operates behind some of the highest import protection in the World so DT hasn't got much to trade off. I reckon he should concentrate on China who clearly do not play fair.

He has the biggest weapon any one can hope for

The BULLY PULPIT of POTUS!

Because elites don't think you should have air conditioning....and they know best!
