I wonder if any of the doctors have thought that possibly that the baby was originally a twin. Please don't quote me on this but I know from reading (and currently listening to docs) that sometimes a twin is absorbed by the other if the weaker of the two cannot survive.... maybe this happened in this case... and the body parts that formed were all that could form of that twin
