A long time back, about when I was in third grad or so, I remember setting in the sand box one day, playing with my collection of matchbox/hotwheels... I'd made a rather intricate little setting, placed all the cars about, like it was a still shot of some futuristic super highway or something... So I sat back, on the edge of the sand box, with a bottle of crush, and just admired the setting while running my fingers through the sand, all the noise from the others on the playground, kinda distant... It got to the point where I wasn't even really looking at the nifty scene, just feeling the sand, staring off and sipping at my crush... I loved that feeling!

What's nice is that I can still get into it from time to time. Odd I suppose, but sand calms me down...

I suppose the current equivalent of that would be setting on a beach with a cold beer, and the ever consistent sand. Gotta have sand.

Yep, I miss Power Rangers. The good one. Before it got all fruity... eh... fruiter.

Meditating... Thats what I'm on about...

I play with sand...

What do the rest of you do?

When I want to feel cool and calm, I just jerk off for awhile.

While sitting in a big tub full of ice cubes :D

I like to curl up with my head in a lap and feel fingers playing in my hair. I find it highly relaxing and healing. :)

But the trick is not to fall asleep Ren... you're supposed to kinda enjoy a moment of clarity... Not zonk out! Sheesh! Masturbation as a meditation tool... *Rolling eyes*

Hey, it calms me down. And I do enjoy a moment of clarity. My mind is no longer clouded with the thoughts of sex for a few seconds. Then, I'm horny again. But we all know what happens then. *Wink Wink*

The weird thing with me is that I get that calm feeling from pocket lint. I know, HOW WEIRD? But it's something that's happened since I was a kid. I find lint in my pocket and I'll be calm and relaxed. But of course, it don't look good to have your hands in your pockets too often.

Sweet Cherry - isn't that the most wonderful feeling? To have someone running their fingers through your hair, brushing it or just generally toying with it? I've loved that feeling since I was a child. Rocking in a rocking chair is always calming to me too. Baking cookies, having the whole house smell like peanut butter or chocolate chip cookies is soothing to the extreme. I also love having someone read to me or tell me stories. :)

Ravenloft, I love the sand too. As I lie on the beach, the trickling tickle of it sliding in between my toes, the heavy warmth of it as I sink my feet underneath the top layer... making sand castles.. I want to go to the beach now. :)

There are many ways to produce that feeling of sweet serinity, a moment where we can exist "in the moment". Recalling childhood emotions is one, it brings out a sense if inosense (excuse my spelling) we all lose from time to time, and running water, or the ocean is very soothing as well. Being touched, or stroked can be soothing as well as healing, some times aura cleansing can feel wonderful as well. I had an experience once where a spiritual group i was in made a circle, and i lay in the middle, the group said my name over and over, each with a diferant tone, it was increadable. try it some time.

Meditation for me is not as simple as it is for some, my sensitivity creating a few, shall we say, experiences, but i love to sit on the beach, feel the sweet breeze on my face, and think of nothing.

Ravenloft, I like the beach too, but its the sounds of the ocean, not the sand that soothes me.

Even better for me than the ocean is the woods, to lay back against an old oak and close me eyes. Just listening to the sounds of nature, the birds, the trees moving in the breeze, and all is at peace, the world is far away.

Wow, thank you all for the posts!

Sounds like we have something in common there TN.

Not so much sand, but I find water, especially rain, and wind to bring about clarity of thought.

Being up in the mountains in the middle of a thunderstorm is an incredible experience.

Yes it is,,, watching the clouds of a humid summer's day approach with a dance all their own from the low lands as they build high enough to climb over the mountain ridges. All the while the wind whips chilly tendrils of the lower clouds thru the passes and hollows. Seeing a ghostly curtain of rain dancing and sparkling across a distant ridge while the cooling winds twist and turn the leaves close by as a prelude to the coming storm.

Sitting on a porch watching the sprinkles of rain swirl thru the tallest trees,,, then a brillant flash of lightening followed by a bone rattling crack of thunder as the storm desends upon you and surrounds you completely.

Bit by bit the storm becomes the most soothing and relaxing of massages. The cool breezes and splatters of rain wash from your body the demons and stresses that earlier seemed about to devour you. The lightening and thunder no longer startle you but are welcomed as jump starts to your senses.

The end of the storm brings a strange sense of loss and an over powering desire for it to continue. But the stresses and demons are gone for now and you see your life with a clearer perspective.

Damn, man, you and your post are a sight for sore eyes.

How have you been?
