...and it was all I ever dreamed it would be. 45 comments within a day of posting, ranging from the best they ever read to hateful insults and even borderline death threats. Most of the latter kind was Mr Anonymous of course, but what surprised me was how some people with what appears to be real accounts bothered writing really long comments with in-depth analysis of the characters and their motives. I thought it was pretty tame by LW standards, the wife "cheating" with her husband's blessing and getting shared by him and his friend, but the very thought of a woman being sexually interested in any man but her husband apparently provokes the shit out of some people.

By vote score it's doing by far the worst of any story I've ever written, but in terms of number of votes it's doing the best with 600 votes within 24 hours. I wonder if the response would have been very different if it had been posted in Group Sex category, which I first intended. It would be an interesting experiment to post the same story in two categories...

And another thing that surprises me is that people bother reading 4 lit-pages of a topic that they found repulsing. It just puzzles me.

No one reads 4 LIT page stories. Much better shit is on cable. The Love it! Hate It! folks are the same people humping your leg.

tomlitilia,

Pay no attention to the troll above. he recently had to change his name because everyone had him on ignore.

They still do. Except for you. Besides, I don't comment for the brain dead AH fags, I comment for intelligent lurkers.

LW is where you go to get your leg humped by ugly dogs.

You comment to yank people chains and for no other reason. Your not nearly as smart as you think you are. If you don't like the writing at Lit, carry your ass somewhere else.

You would fit perfectly in Loving Wives.

Great writing

I just finished reading your latest story. You definitely have a talent for creating a visual picture with words. The buildup was great as we're the sex scenes. How anyone could not get turned on with the description of the action would be beyond me. Keep writing.

Children play nice.

Loving wives have three distinct groups that read there, I'm fairly sure they only read there so they comment on everything. The three groups have different wants so if you do what one group likes the rest will be pissed and do what you encountered.

The three groups always want a wife who fucks around, not real sure why. They differ on what happens after, one group wants her to then fuck her husband. Another wants the husband to be so pissed off he ruins her life, or kicks the shit out of her, usually both at once, those guys are probably single and staying that way. The last group want her to fuck around and then have her husband either clean her out after and nothing else, or simply tell him about it and not give him any satisfaction, those are the ones who get off on having a loving wife, and hopefully do.

One other thingy, most seem to forget this one, but getting feedback is a high mark, means the readers felt something while reading your story. Granted in loving wives they always post comments but they still get off on the story, as I said they likely don't read anything else and there is only one a day posted if that. They got off on the story, but then feel guilty about it unless it is their kink, so lash out at you for posting a free story they don't have to read.

I took every test there is and have a fair idea of my stuff. Smarts aint IQ points, its the stuff you solve problems with. And I invented stubborn. It took me 5 solid years to end the only story I got an E for. Its not complicated or clever, its simply right.

My IQ score from school is 85. Eighty-five is the bottom of the barrel for 'average' intelligence. The score means 85% of all humans are smarter than me. So for a long fuggin time I believed if I can do it anyone can do it. But that premise is bull shit because I have a few aptitudes that are off the fuggin scale, and some down in the cellar with the rats and my LIT scores. For example I see shit most people have no idea exists. The GATB says I'd make a dandy petroleum engineer or landscape architect or sheet metal worker (I was a union sheet metal worker for many years). My strange aptitude is essential for such vocations. But my low IQ score forces me to keep it simple. Silly shit is a place I cannot go. So I prolly am as smart as I think I am, and have learned to make it do the work in spite of the low wattage.

True. I read BERNICE BOBS HER HAIR the other day and then deleted every F.Scott Fitzgerald item on my Kindle. How embarrassing.

I've been through three rounds of anger management and I have never encountered as much anger/hate and vitriolic spew as the second faction- the burn the bitch faction-you mentioned

But then again I doubt they would have much to say without the anonymity of the net to hide behind:rolleyes:

I used to think real life bullies were despicable, until I met cyber bullies, weak little worms and LW is populated with them.

Hush. We need love, too.

Congrats on taking the plunge, tomlitilia! You are a braver man than I, throwing some of your hard work to the lions like that and taking a hit to your near perfect track record. You've inspired me - I've got a very sex positive story about a real loving wife to share with them that will have them gouging their eyes out. You're writing is great, keep it up!

Took the plunge myself awhile back. Mine's longer but broken into chapters. Feedback is fun and insane...some almost as long as the chapter...passionate folk over there. Crazy, but passionate.

I follow a basic rule here. If I want high votes from the few people who read a piece, I write something pandering in a friendly, quiet category. If I want lots and lots of eyeballs, I post in Incest. If I want almost as many eyeballs and many many comments, I post in LW. Some do rather well. Some don't. But to be READ, post in those latter categories.

Welcome

Welcome to LW family :)

I post mainly to LW. I love the comments. The trolls are just so fucking funny. I like the positive comments too and I've made a couple of email friends from people sending me email feedback to my stories. So my advice: Laugh at the trolls; feel good about the praise; keep writing :D

I recently deleted 93 stories posted to LIT. Theyre on my computer but gone from LIT. The PLAN is to submit longer LW fare on steroids. LW novellas kinda. The first of them is something I titled, HAZARDOUS WASTE: Lose your head and youll lose your ass. These tales are intended to shove LW readers hard.

Thanks for sharing your experience, tomlitilia. I think we're all aware the Loving Wives and Incest & Taboo have their following. I've yet to write for either. The amount of votes you've accrued in a day is huge, even if their resultant mean is not that flattering. I have the first page of a story written that might go toLW, but it isn't a classic storyline for that category, so I do not know how the horde will react. I might chicken out of posting it there, as it deals with disability, and I don't particularly want to expose a sensitive subject to an insensitive crowd.

As I mentioned above, the strengths of I/T and LW are their large audiences. An author posting there knows they will be READ and that posting in LW means the story will AFFECT readers. Those are my goals: grabbing eyeballs and provoking reactions, positive OR negative. Any reaction shows I've done my job. The worst response is no response.

Don't worry about the crowd. Some will love you, some won't. You can avoid negative comments by not posting stories. You can avoid volumes of comments by posting in slow, low-popularity categories. If you want to be READ, expect some blowback. That's how LIT is.

The numbers are pretty clear. A story of mine in Erotic Couplings has a Red-H with 13 votes; only 3300 people clicked on it. A story in Incest is at 2.33 but has 238 votes and over 102,000 reads. Which do you think I value more?

Ask yourself why you're posting stories on LIT. Clarify your goals. Knowing what you want here makes life much easier.

I'm not sure that 'reads' are what you think they are. They are effectively page views. Especially when a story is getting a lot of low votes, I'm not sure those voters are reading it -- skip to last page and 1-bomb it. I have a story in EC that has 20,779 views in 15 days, 291 votes and a score of 4.81. I think that shows a sizeable and appreciative readership. So, I do think that it depends what one means about audience. If we mean people reading and engaging with the story, then I'm not sure that's what the high viewing numbers are saying. There are all sorts of styles of erotic writing. If I write something tender, albeit fitting the LW remit, I might not want to place where readers don't want that stuff.

I have a problem with LW if it has simply become all about the cuckold. I think the whole category system is a mistake here. This is exemplified by the number of new writers asking where their story belongs, and the old hands come along and give them a lesson in the history of site politics.

Nice story. Read it, voted, commented.

Thanks for the encouraging words!
And good choice with the sex positive LW angle masterandmargarita. That was really what I was aiming at here as well, but some didn't quite read it that way (understatement). One of the comments that was actually rather insightful made me think about the trade-off between sex positive erotica (OK, I admit... I write strokers) and "conflict" in the story. I was trying to hide the ending, attempting to make it at last a bit less obvious who would end up fucking their brains out, and how, and why.
