Will you use your words to harm
Do you strike a blow with a phrase
A lethal blurt barb or many more
Twist the knife, your blade sharp
Tongue in cheek when meaning is clear
Your civil words cutting and true
Say the word, show me what you got
Hide behind your true meaning
Maybe I haven’t got this right
Your words could be misconstrued
Are you laughing at me or with me?
Smiling or verbally sneering
No one knows what I say goes
I say what I am , I am what I say
Riddle me this, reader dear do
Do you read into what I say
Then interpret it your way
Words, words, words, reflecting what
Say as I do but not what I say
So sayeth me to you, be true
My meaning may be lost
When others translate
Think what you like, as you do
Read my words and interpret much
I write what I write, I am who I am
I stand behind my words, they are me
Your translation may not be correct
Doubt rests in your mind, you contemplate
I say what I think; mean what I say
Though irresponsible of your concept
The preacher he done read the Bible
Spare the rod and spoil the child
Suddenly the people they read meaning
And interpretations they ran wild
Don’t use the rod and spoil that child
Jump I say jump to that conclusion
Take that rod and spank that badass
You this and that makes you all phat
Are your nice words covering scorn
Or is your meaning kind and true
My sky is blue, you don’t agree though
Seeing instead clouds and bleak sky
I see pretty you, believe my words you don’t
Do you see conspiracies where I won’t
So says the word, the words speak volumes.
What do my words say to you?
