Just a thought about the fuss here..

Hey, I'm new here, and I like to think of myself as a left-libertarian (the rightist dementoids are hereby invited to sort through my pathetic back posts and "prove" that I'm a Hillary-sucking statist worm).

I think things here have indeed gotten a bit tiresome and nasty (and sometimes, that's fun). There was just an excellent thread from Louisiana about Germany's alternative path had Hitler died early (all the politicos got to weigh in, but their views weren't entirely predictable, as Clinton and Bush weren't yet born). That's a rare thread, truly of interest.

I don't really understand the trolling business yet, though it's obviously hurt a lot of seemingly decent people. But I think that WriterDom, Myles, Todd, AJ/MarkovCain, whatever, are battering everyone fanatically because they really know - as do we all- that this Administration's days are truly numbered. The incompetence, high-handedness, illegitimacy, and plain bad timing (yes, a recession HAS begun) have doomed the Bush team. So they're hysterical, and they're behaving very badly, like Hitler flooding the Berlin U-bahn to drown the invading Russians, and his own defenders.

I posted one news story recently. It was ignored. I won't do it again. We all need to bear in mind that people who like politics also like to read about it, and they do read the papers. People at lit are probably more aware than most about the commission on condoms, and we probably use the damned things too, when we act out some of those wet fantasies. WriterDom, that was a stupid fucking post! Let's all practice abstinence!!!! That's why we're here, right? LIT SEX IS SAFE SEX! Send it to Ashcroft and we'll all go to GOP heaven. Okay?

Can you guys try to use your imaginations more? Is that possible? If you're terminally hidebound, what're you doing at a sex site?

That was me!

My cookie timed out and I didn't notice. My first appearance as a troll! I hereby acknowledge all thoughts and insults in the above post.

You weren't supposed to read the stupid post. Did you read dixon's wire story also.

I think that was pretty well put shadowsource.
People take things far too personal in here most of the time.

I read it. I read Dixon's as well.

Oh, and you forgot a question mark.

It's much to early to worry about 2004. Besides, the Clinton/Gore slowdown wont last forever. I'm excited about all the Democrat senators up for reelection in the "red" states in 2002. And the possible indictment of the New Jersey crooked senator. Who knows, even Zell Miller might switch parties.

Shadowsource

:p

ShadowSource... want to get married? I LOVE your view of the word and the assholes in it!

How Do Da Shadow Know?

I like to think of myself as a left-libertarian

1. What is a left-libertarian? That's a contradiction in terms.

But I think that WriterDom, Myles, Todd, AJ/MarkovCain, whatever, are battering everyone fanatically because they really know - as do we all- that this Administration's days are truly numbered

2. I'm battering everyone fanatically because I know Bush's
days are nymbered? What does that mean? Who have
I battered, and when? I have no fucking idea if Bush's days
are numbered. I'm much more concerned about who gets
elected to Congress where the real damage is done.

Ah, shadowsource. I see that the women are all ready to bear your children after this post. ;)

Well, I think you give them too much credit in thinking through the motivations of their plan. It's simply this. Most Republicans are bitter because the Democrats finally took over with Clinton. They were scared of him from day 1. Even before New Hampshire the right knew that Clinton and his posse were a force to be reckoned with. Nothing could bring Clinton down, he was an enigma with which they simply could not successfully tangle.

Now, in the aftermath of Clinton, the Republicans can only offer us Bush the lesser. How distraught they must be that they have to rely on such an insipid opossum-like fool to run their party and now our country. They realize it's a 4 year presidency and then they will have to deal with a left-wing President for at least another 8 years.

So, it all boils down to bitterness. But most evil in this world does. :)

Have fun on the boards. Your posts are appreciated.

If Hillary had given up the "posse" Clinton would have stayed out of trouble. But keep preaching your saga. If nothing else, it's humorous.;)

And like I've said before, we don't hate Clinton. He handed over the keys to the House for the first time in 40 years.

Pay attention please.
I did not vote for Bush, or Clinton, or Bush, or Carter, or Reagan, but I did vote for Nixon.

I always vote third party.

Hence to include me in your charge is wrong.

I don't give one rats ass about the duration of Bush's presidency, just the destruction of the ultra left who have come to dominate Democratic thinking.

It's just easy for you to lump us all together as those who don't think like you.

Okay Markov -

It's interesting to me that you didn't vote for Bush and that Nixon was your last One. That shows some taste, I admit. I only voted for Gore to stop Bush, but that's an old game, isn't it? I can appreciate that you quit playing.

I guess I'm trying to say that we might try a bit harder to challenge one another, to surprise ourselves, and yes, to entertain the less political souls. In general, to be less predictable. I, for one, think the Democrats are a pile of slimy, gutless hypocrites on the question of marijuana, as I truly believe that a lot of them know it's harmless. I can't say Republicans KNOW it's harmless, so I blame them less. If I come here and always seem to uphold some party platform, I'm not being my left-libertarian, anti-prison, 1st Amendment freak self. Maybe you right guys are all different, but it hasn't seemed that way to me.

Face it: We babble about politics because we enjoy it. But we don't have to act like hockey fans 24/7. That's why I liked the what-if Hitler post. It wasn't a work of genius or anything, but it elicited some genuine thought, and I knew more about those who posted afterward.

Shadow

I did..you didn't reply.

Hey, ya talkin about my thread?

:p

Oh shit!

I've insulted a LAWYER, for Christ's sake, and a nice one with a bad temper! Sorry Siren, I just meant that it was a nice, open question that everyone could respond to in a relaxed, thoughtful way. There's a good one on religion right now, too.

Miles: Your first point was rhetorical, that I couldn't be a lefite and a libertarian. Well, I don't spread for authority. Got audited twice by the IRS for articulating political positions in a legal manner. Have the feds done that to you?

As for Congress, I expect you'll lose way more Senate seats in '02. The House? Who knows? Maybe Condit's idiocy will turn out to be crucial, but he wasn't much for the Dems to boast about. Yawn. 'Night.

shadowsource

Nice try, but it was a question and you didn't answer it.

Leftists want more government. Libertarians want less. That's rhetoric?

I like shadowsource...

...in fact I've always liked shadowsource...

...ever since I first met him...

...I think he'll go far...

Bye.

Outside of Oregon and Maine, most of the Repubican senators seem safely tucked away in red states. Democrats might have a hard time with Max Cleland of Georgia, Carnahan of Mo. , Mary Landrieu of La., Torricelli in NJ, or Baucus of Montana. I know it's an off year election, but I don't see any gain for Dems in the senate. A shift of one or two either way perhaps.
