Jonesey

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

So sorry, darlin'. :(

It really hurts to lose a feline friend, especially when they are a big part of your life.

((((HUGS)))) sarahh. :kiss::rose::kiss:

So sorry to read this Sarahh.
((hugs)))

Peaceful journey to the land of the slow running mice, Jonesey.

That brought tears to my eyes. I'm so sorry...it's always really hard to lose a pet...but I'm sure you gave him a wonderful life. *hugs*

I will cry with you a while. Losing a pet is horrible. Losing a child must be worse but I have never done that, thank God. But I've had to put down two well-beloved dogs and that lets me understand what Jonesy meant to you.

Hugs.

I look forward to that day. :)

Cat you are an amazing man! :D

Thank you, everyone. :rose:

My family is treating me well, and the other cats have all come by to check up on matters. They do notice that Bustopher Jones is not in his usual place (at my side while I'm on my laptop). They know.

Why do I feel so awful with this sense of relief now? I mean, I know he is no longer suffering, this agonizing choice no longer hangs over our heads - 'tis done.

Honestly, we humans are such pitiable creatures.

I already miss him.

Because a piece of you believes that you shouldn't be relieved that he's at peace now. Kitty died the same way, at home, and sick. She didn't die in my arms, she died in her sleep sometime during that night. But as much as I grieved, and as much as I missed her then, and now, I was also relieved that she was gone.

And yes, your other cats know. Gizmo and Aria knew too, they spent several days looking for Kitty. Your cats might seem out of sorts for a little while too.

This always makes me cry. :rose:

I just cried a little as well, reading through all that has been posted.

:heart:

Petting you, Sweets.

I'm so glad you have other pets. Others don't reduce the sadness, but they do give new joys.

I feel for you... :rose:

I am so sorry Darlin. I went through the same 12 days ago. I'm still numb.

My heart goes out to you.:rose:

:rose::heart:

Last year I really experienced this for the first time, the pain of losing that special friend, that longtime companion. It was February of last year. I couldn't bury him because the ground was too hard. His little worn out body went into the deep freeze in the garage. I'm a little embarrassed to say it took me nine months to be able to bury him. I just couldn't face it.

The week after I did so, somebody dropped off two kittens. This is not uncommon here, sadly. I normally find homes or place animals left this way. But something about these two wouldn't let me. I kept them. Oddly enough, they both stick out their tongues a little bit when I am petting them and they are happy, just the way my boy did. I can remember him happily when I hold them.
