Jimmy "The asshole" Kimmel tossed off thd air.

If anyone felt pressured by the government they can seek redress in the courts and as far as I know no suit has been filed yet.

The government has control over who uses the airwaves and how. Users have to obtain a license and those licenses come with rules attached no different that having to be licensed to drive on public roadways. If there is an issue re. how those various rules and regulations are interpreted or enforced............back to the courts.

No court case.............no problem.
Interesting take.

If you think you were coerced, you can sue.
If you don't sue, you weren't coerced.

So Trump has sexually assaulted women, because they’ve filed suit. I’m sure Trump would disagree, but interesting to hear you say that.

A word of advice to anyone right of center who wants anyone else to take them seriously: don't believe everything you read on Breitbart or Newsmax.

Right.

As opposed to say, Jimmy Kimmel who KNEW that Charlie Kirk's murderer was a LEFTIST lunatic, but decided that teh narrative was more important that truth?

The interesting thing is the Left has basically given the Right free rein to do pretty much anything.

After all, what are they gonna do? Call the Right nazis, facists and start shooting them? They already checked all of the above.

Authoritarians love when federal agencies threaten private businesses to get them to fire comedians who made fun of the very sensitive president.

Authoritarian MAGA sheep can’t pretend to be anything other than authoritarian anymore.

Broadcast licenses do come with rules, but those rules are about spectrum use, technical standards, and indecency—not about protecting politicians from criticism. Comparing it to a driver’s license misses the point: driving is a privilege, while political speech is a constitutional right. And while you’re right that courts provide a path for redress, the absence of a lawsuit doesn’t mean there’s no problem. When enforcement looks politically motivated, it can create a chilling effect where broadcasters self-censor to avoid retaliation. That’s the real danger, and it’s why the FCC’s credibility depends on keeping its role regulatory, not retaliatory.

What makes this worse are the chairman’s own remarks about doing things “the easy way or the hard way,” which echo the president’s threats to fire network personnel who criticize him. When regulatory enforcement starts sounding like political payback, it stops being neutral oversight and starts looking like intimidation. That’s the language of authoritarian regimes, not independent regulators. It’s no coincidence that the president openly admires leaders like Viktor Orbán—whose grip on the press is built on exactly this kind of regulatory pressure. That’s not a model America should be borrowing from.

That is not "an interesting take", that is how you deal with these situations. ABC is not some penniless waif easily bullied, they have the money and legal staff capable of mounting a credible challenge IF their legal staff felt they would prevail. All they have to do is put Kimmel back on the air and dare the FCC to take some action. As things stand right now they have NO standing in the courts...............they've suffered NO injury.

Soooooooo, all you "performative artists" are just confirming that you're the fools that you appear to be.

Coercion took place regardless of whether ABC takes additional action.

"We can do this the easy way or we can do this the hard way"

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

No injury, no standing.

Well counselor, why don't you file suit on their behalf then?
Lol...this is political coercion by the government.

Nobody needs to sue in order for that to.be true. Though certainly Kimmel could use ABC for wrongful termination.

Baa Baaa Baaaa... 🐑🐑🐑 You have no understanding nor comprehension of the importance of of this FCC overreach.
FCC Brandon did not add his two cents comment 'easy way or hard way' until he was interviewed on network opinion news. He was describing what the FCC perceived the broadcaster did. The government is allowed an opinion.

That wasn't an opinion. It was an ultimatum.

FCC is not that stupid. Not their level of regulation either.
Do you understand words?

Can you explain what the FCC was saying by "we can do this the easy way or the hard way" in regards to fines?

If they don't have that level of regulation.....

Trump said Kimmel was fired because he mentioned Charlie Kirk.
