Jeep Gladiator

LOL - I had a old Jeep J10. Loved that thing and drove it until it died. The new Gladiator? Uh, no.

Really....it makes sense for Jeep. Pickups, SUV's, are what everyone wants, so why not?

No big deal, but I wonder why they didn't go with the old Scrambler name, which was the last CJ pickup.
The Gladiator was the full size one.

No matter....I figure it will sell well.

Not a full sheet!

Sheeeeeiiiit, I bet those back seats are removable, and with the windshield down you could easily haul some 10' boards.

Is it street legal to drive with the windshield down?

Way too much work.

I have a couple 2x4's on top the cruiser for hauling wood, boats, etc.

I like the Gladiator. I had a 2 door JK and a 4 door JKU Rubicon. The new JL are nice as well. I'm hopeful, but don't expect it to happen, but it would be nice to see the Gladiator come in a 2 door option. As it is now, off-roading a 4 door Gladiator would not be ideal. Since it is 20" longer than a JLU. Also, the location of the spare is not great for it being a Jeep. Under the bed like every pickup is not jeep like. I fully expect that an after-market swing-arm rear bumper to relocate the spare will come out quickly.

I would think, that if the 4-door Gladiator is a hit, a 2-door will happen.
There are a lot of 4-door Rubicon's been sold, so I suppose that's why they went 4-door.
All that length....Not my thing. My Rubicon is a 2-door, and for obvious reasons. I'm with you....I'd look at a 2-door Gladiator, but a 4-door is not for me and what I need.

The last time I went to a Jeep dealership, the salesman walked up to the car, immediately got in, and started talking about the entertainment system - before anything else.

It's a Jeep. What makes it special is the drivetrain, wheels, body...everything that isn't the stereo.

Once the purchase was made, an "electronics consultant" then came out to explain the same shit over again. I was like, yah that's okay; got that from the salesman already. Know what would be useful? Info on the soft top. Can you or anyone else here explain how it folds down?

Nope.

You heard me right; at the Jeep dealership, they couldn't figure it out.

I was to a Jeep dealership in the late 70's on a snowy day in winter. They handed me a broom and the keys to a CJ-5 with a 304 and a CJ-7 with Quadratrack. Told me to try 'em and have fun. I didn't buy then, I waited until late in 1979. The Jeep didn't have a radio so I popped an Alpine into it.

They have 2-door versions, and solutions for the spare.

I’m good with our Rubicon, and the custom rack up top holds plenty of cargo, gear and extra gas for off-road excursions.

When I had a pick-up, there was always someone who wanted to borrow it to pick up stuff from Home Depot, the garden centre, the mattress store, or some relative who gave them some monstrous furniture piece for free, provided they pick it up.

I heard that only the crew cab (4-door) version was going to be released in 2020. Or maybe a 2020 in 2019.

I could be wrong.

I've been peepin' them...they look pretty sick on paper.

Mmmmmhmmm....might have to hang up my Toyota hat and give that there Dawj a fair shake.

Keep the Toyota, you might need to tow the Jeep home.

Fuck that. Get a pickup. Turning my beloved Wrangler into some weird El Camino hybrid is awful. Beyond Awful.

I custom ordered a 2018 built from JK parts to avoid the JL. Penstar with the lower gear ratio, hitch and the Willys trim. Black. Love it.

No truck nutz. No El Camino Ass.

:D

Oh yea....I know I won't do it....I mean the Jeep looks hot...I dig it, I really do.

Buuuuut I love the ol' Yota....the only thing I'd trade the Sequoia for would be a Tundra of the same generation

I've often wished I had a bed instead of a 3rd row seat, but the SUV version has been one of the best beat wagons I've ever owned.

I know it, it's relatively easy to work on, it's long paid for, cost nothing to insure, IDC if bitch face at costco dings it, kids/dogs smear their snot all over the glass or whatever.

I got a good stereo and it keeps on rollin'....long as it keeps doing that? I don't see any reason to replace it. :D

I've heard good things about the Sequoia. My HJ-60 isn't nearly as plush, but I don't mind getting it a bit dirty. Don't need it as a daily driver, unless an EMP knocks out the Sube. And, I can sleep in the back of it, just barely, if i need to.
