Wow, Toni, it sounds like you have lots going on in your world down there right now. The sleep apnea thing makes a lot of sense. My son didn't have the sleep apnea but he did have the kind of asthma that came on when he had a cold or exerted himself too hard (like too many minutes in a row in basketball). He eventually outgrew it and is now a professional bowler. He isn't established enough to do it fulltime, but he does bowl regional tournaments and when the tour is in the area. {It would also kill him to leave his son and his girlfriend for a long time and he has a VERY good job}.

I am happy that your nephew graduated. Hopefully he will at least find his way to a technical college or something along those lines. You are right about most people needing that extra education to make it in this world. It is sad to hear that your brother doesn't feel that his other son will do the same. You see, children are very good at feeling what parents think (whether they say it out loud or not). If his Dad feels he won't make it, then he is not likely to even try. Very sad. I hope someone mentors the boy and helps him get the ooph to go for it!

Good luck with the health thing for both of you. It is terrible not knowing for sure what is going on. I know it is scary for him to be alone that night but maybe if you enforce that your Mom will be by his side every step of the way (and you know she will), he may feel better about going.

All of my brother's kids are very smart. Matt the one that was supposed to graduate next year, is my brother in looks, actions, etc.. he is girl crazy, always has lots of girlfriends. Is always getting in trouble for fighting or doing something. My brother quit school when he was 16, I believe and by age 17 was married and already had a kid and 14 mos. later another and 17 mos. later still another. My brother realized how he screwed up things when he was that age. He was never able to just sit in a class and read, etc.. He started to go to technical school once,my mom checked ahead of time whether or not it would be alot of book work or hands on, he is very good at that, and they said that it was hands on...which was a lie. And he ended up quitting. He got into a job cleaning swimming pools and then when they found out he was mechanically inclined he did the repairs and then started his own business but they had to sell it when his youngest daughter was born, 9/11 really affected his business, he is now doing that same type work for someone else and makes pretty good money. His wife just became a RN and starting her internship soon. Steve, the one that graduated Fri, said that he is going to try to get on at UPS and then join the service in about a yr. Matt always had the middle child syndrome, he lived with my brother some this year and tried to catch up to where he could graduate next year with his class. He was working part time and had a tutor working with him, but I don't think he was putting forth the effort. He moved back with his mom and not that she doesn't care, but I don't think she pushes him the way he needs to be in order to make it. His oldest daughter, 15, says she wants to be a chiropractor. He has a friend that he and his wife are both chiropractor and she sees the kind of money that can be made. I hope she sticks to it. I let Steve know how proud we were of him and that whatever life challenges are put before him that he will be able to handle them with pride and dignity. And I also let him know that his grandmother was probably looking down on him with such pride and joy for his accomplishments. I know she would have been so proud of him! It was pretty hard with her not being there for his graduation. She loved her grandkids and never missed a graduation. I, like you, hope that Matt will buckle down and do what he needs to do and graduates also. I just think that life will be so hard on him if he doesn't. Even myself, looking back, I wish that I had gone on to college and received a degree then maybe I would feel so trapped. But my sister in law and I were talking Fri night and if I can dig up the money and she said that once she gets started nursing she might can help me also, that I might go to school to be a massage therapist. I think I would like that. I can't handle the pain, suffering and everything that comes with nursing, I faint! But I know that you can make pretty good money and help out alot of ppl with massage therapy, especially that ppl are starting to look at alternative medicines/treatments.

Hope you have a great weekend. Take care sweetie. Btw, your breakfast sounded wonderful. I am sure it was.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could put a bubble around our towns and protect them from all the devistation. If that worked, we could just put a bubble around the whole world!

Toni,

I would check into it but you may possibly be able to get a Pell Grant or Financial Aid to get the training. Did you ever stop to think that your job was forcibly being changed so you would be forced to make your decision to follow your dream? I know you could do this! You have the qualities that are perfect for that job. I personally know three people who are massage therapists and they love their work. One is a single mother who has built up her business that she can totally work her schedule around her son, who is now a junior in high school. This would be great. You could be home at night with Daniel!! I am here for you to follow your dream girl...........go for it!!!!!!!

Thanks Jacqline. I have never heard of the Pell Grant, but have heard of financial aid. I think that the 2 years that it would take to get trained would be hard and probably see less of Daniel but would be worth it in the end. Yes I have thought that there is a reason for everything and that maybe my job situation is an answer to get out and try something new. I am going to check into it soon. Thanks for your constant support. Also if I did that if my location should some day change it is something that I could do where ever I might end up! ;) (((((((((((((Jacqline)))))))))))

I would look into that further, sweetie. The schools around here are full time and you are finished in a year. A friend in the midwest did it 5 hours on Tuesday and Thurs. nights for 10 months and had to do a certain amount of weekend workshops. You may find out it isn't as difficult as you think. If you can get established with a Chiropractor, then you could get a lot of injury work thrown your way. Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of studying to do besides the actual schoolwork, but it is worth it and it is a craft that is in demand everywhere. Once you have your table, it can go everywhere with you.

I will pray that you take the road that you are supposed to take.

I got the things finished that I needed to finish and I got a good amound of rest as well. I have been told that movie was good. I have most of the movies Haley Joel Osment has been in. He is one of the best young actors I have ever seen. Being in the movie with the two incredible seasoned actors must make it a very special movie.

I am not looking forward to going in to work today. There will be a huge stack of mail waiting and everything else will have piled up for me. I guess that is the price we pay for an extra day off.

I did watch some special tributes to the men who have fought for our country. Of course, Memorial Day was a tilme to miss my Parents and my Sister too. They will always be close to me in my heart.

yeah it kind of is for me also. I didn't watch any of the specials. Sometimes it is just too hard. I love hearing the stories and some of the movies, etc.. and really want to know, just sometimes it is just too much. I couldn't handle it at this time. Maybe because I know my nephew is planning on going in next year. So young and so brave, he is really ready to go fight! And I am afraid that if he does that his brother might follow him in there too, if he quits school. But I have/had quite a few family members who served and only one died. My dad's older brother. He was due to come home in about 2-3 wks when he got killed.

My Mom's brother died on D-Day on the beach in Normandy. I had to watch the movie "Ike" to see how all of it went together. Mom loved him so much- we heard about him the rest of her life. I didn't meet my cousin (his only child) until about 5 years ago. She was 3 when he died. She is very active in the National War Orphans Society. I love her dearly.

It broke Mom's heart when she was at the local theater and they were watching an update on the war (maybe you know how they did those at intermission) and they showed her brother getting killed. It devastated her and of course they took that off for the future since it was his home town. Putting myself in her place, I cried along with her whenever she talked about him.

Have a great week.{{{{{{{{{{{{Toni}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

It is supposed to get to 76 here today. Today and tomorrow will be great as the rest of the week was. The weekend is supposed to be rainy:(

On the news this morning, they are saying Puget Sound (where I live) had meteors come into our atmosphere (waiting for the video) and that they are too small to hit the ground but the sonic boom and the sky lighting were pretty scary for some. It shook their homes. I was sound asleep.

We are at 69 right now, going to 85, but we have had some really bad storms the last two nights and supposed to have more this morning. And then there is chance of thunderstorms, cloudy and windy weather for the weekend. The trees at the City Hall, just about a half block from me, lightning struck one of the trees and split it almost in half. We have been having hurricane type winds and last night it took the bottom hinge of my storm door and pull it out of the door frame, the front door is ok though, Jake the dog was just laying in the storage shed curled up during the storms. Goofy dog! Take care and have a good week.
