sorry to hear about your wife, i think you and i are pretty much in the same situation!! hope she gets well soon!! as for us, we were finally told by the dr,s here that they did not have a clue about what is going on, so were are going back to the Mayo clinic in middle march, i am sure we will find out something there, it might not be what we want to hear but we will know what to expect!!! wish we had went back there a year ago!!! take care!!

Good evening, Jacqline,

My wife has been so happy. She had managed to go 45 days without having to see any of her doctors on an emergency basis. That came to a crashing halt. Just over a week ago she started experiencing excruciating pain in her pubic and groin area. She went in to her internist, who then sent her to her intervention radiologist to find out what was wrong. He did an ultrasound and found that she had phlebitis. That feels just like somebody is shoving a red hot knife right into a vessel. He put her on an anti-inflammatory agent. We knew that this could cause trouble because she is on blood thinners. Yesterday when she woke up, she found blood on her pillow. She looked in the mirror and her gums were bleeding. Since she already had an appointment with her cardiologist, she asked him about it and told him that she was also having a bad headache. This concerned him and he sent her in for a CAT scan. So far it has been negative. When she had her pro-time/INR, it turned out that her blood level was five times a high as it was supposed to be. Now hse has to be very careful about doing anything.

To add to the tension, our 28yo daughter who is living with us so that she can pay off some of her student loans was told that she may not be asked to return to teach at the school where she is teaching this year. She is going to talk to her principal tomorrow to see if there is anything that she can do to keep her job. If she isn't offered another contract, then she will have no way to pay her bills and will have to stay with us even longer. She wants so desparately to move, as we would like her to do. I are looking forward to having our empty nest. But, the worst thing is that fact that she will be feeling like she has fail.

I told you that I had been made Pharmacist In Charge for two months. Six weeks have gone by and they still have not offered me the permanent position. I have several mixed feelings. I really don't want the hassles, but I don't want to have to work under somebody who is not going to be competent. I know that I am the most qualified person, but there are rumors that the job has been offered to a guy that just passed the board last July. I have doubts, but who knows anymore. I am not very worried, though. Monday night, a friend called me to ask about the rumor because she works with the other "candidate" and thinks that he would be a terrible manager. It was interesting that only 30 minutes after her call, I received a call from the director of pharmacy services at a local hospital asking if I would be interested in making a change. I'm not sure if I want to do it, but I have an appointment to talk to him next Tuesday. I know that God is going to see us through all of this, but prayers and hugs will be very helpful also.

Well, so much for my problems. How are you doing? Are you back up to par with your health and not being overworked? I am praying for you. You are so special to me. Big hugs and kisses for you.

Have you ever thought about going to the powers that be and ask them about the rumor? Often rumors spread that are not true. I would also point out the positive things you have accomplished for them since you have been in this position. Maybe it would be a good time to say, I have been doing a great job for .......long and would like to know if you plan on offering me the permanent position?

I wouldn't go looking until you know this to be a fact. If they intend to keep you on in that position permanently, they should offfer the position right away. If they are wishy washy, then I would entertain other offers. First give them a chance to deny it or confirm it.

Good weekend

Jacqline I hope that you had a good weekend. Did you get the holiday off? I gave my other pharmacist the option of working or taking it off. Since she worked the weekend and will be off tomorrow and the next day, she decided to work, so I was off. It gave me some time to do some thinking. I still haven't made a final decision about what I will do. My time as temporary Pharmacist in Charge is almost over and they haven't offered me the permanent position. While I have been waiting for the offer, I have had two more offers. I am seriously thinking about taking a position with a hospital. It will mean working three 12 hour days with four days off per week. But the thing that is most appealing is that in addition to a 401K plan they have a pension plan also. They haven't told me how big it is or if insuranse is included. That can make a difference. Also, I am looking into the possibilty of working another four hours per week in diabetes education. I have put in calls asking about these items, but they haven't called me back. And the stress level should be lower also. The other position that has opened up is at an independent pharmacy that is expanding. Right now, over half of their staff is made up of people that have left our company, including the owner. Benefits should be about equal to what I have now, but the stress level is down, the work is less and the hours are better, 9-6, Mondy through Friday. I guess that I will know within the next week or two.

ljmo-- glad to hear that you had a good trip. At first, I thought you had made your trip to Mayo and had good news. Then I went back and checked that you go in a couple of weeks. How is your wife doing? As always, I will be praying for her.

I didn't get the holiday off but I will be getting Thur. off instead because my boss has to go out of town and we will close that day.

You would think that your company would get a clue and realize that their way of doing things is driving good employees away. I guess my advice would be to listen to your "gut" because it will have the answer for you of what to do. You are right, the insurance thing would be a deal breaker or maker. I would go so far as to find out what the insurance covers and doesn't cover before I would commit to a new place.

Another thing to consider is if they are going to be there for a long time. The new company is going to be competing with established pharmacies. Will they be a stable company? I don't envy your decision but I know you will come up with the perfect answer for you.

Saturday was my Grandson's birthday party at a huge place that had absolutely anything that a child could want. It had every video game imaginable, rides, laser tag, bumper boats, etc. He had a fun birthday party and it was nice to see people I hadn't seen in a long time. It did, however, wear me out. Saturday was my Grandson's birthday party at a huge place that had absolutely anything that a child could want. It had every video game imaginable, rides, laser tag, bumper boats, etc. He had a fun birthday party and it was nice to see people I hadn't seen in a long time. It did, however, wear me out. Sunday I did NOTHING all day.

Jacqline I'm glad that you had such a good time at the birthday party. It is so much fun watching them having fun. We have to wait for June when 2 granddaughters have birthdays.

Things are getting very anxious for me. I haven't yet about the hospital job and that is the one that I am leaning toward. It has really gotten tough to go to work each day. I have slipped into a depression, though. I know that if and when I leave to go to the hospital, all of the girls that I work with are going to be hurt. They are so looking forward to me taking over as the manager. I would like to stay with them, but the job is getting to me. Also, the new job has so many benefits that I can't ignore. I would like to retire in 5 or 6 years and the hospital has a better package. They will contribute over $50,000 more than than my current job. Also, I have a chance to work with people with diabetes at least four hours a week in addition to my regular duties. I will be so glad when everything gets settled.

I know how hard it is to leave your coworkers but nothing is as important as your mental health and your personal happiness (not to mention your retirement). The people will be lucky to have someone like you to be there for them with diabetes. I have nobody to help me.

Why don't you call the hospital and ask them if they have made their decision? Sometimes they wait to see who asks to see who is the most interested in the job. Please let me know how the mri turns out. It should be able to tell a lot of things. I am sorry to hear that you are still hurting with that infection. Please take good care of yourself and don't overdo this weekend.

had alot of change of plans tonight, my dr called about 6 tonight and he wants to operate on my knee in the morning at 10, seems there is some kind of pocket of infection there and it is close to the bone so he wants it out NOW!! i will be at the hospital all weekend!! no work now!! tkae care and as always lots of hugs for you!!!!

My prayers are with you. I know how much you have been going through and I know how bad an infection in the leg can be. They need to keep it away from the bone at any cost. It is so hard to treat once it gets in the bone. My older brother has that problem. By the time you read this you will be back home after the surgery, so I hope that everything went well and was successful and you will feel better soon.

Thank you for the support. I will be calling the hospital on Monday. The benefits between the two positions are getting closer. We had a conference call this morning and were told what I have said for years. I could have saved them the cost of the study. They found that the more technical people were not able to do their jobs because they were having to do more basic chores. So now they are going to give us a cashier to free us up to do our jobs. I will have to ask check more about the possibility of doing more diabetic care where I am also. They have been talking about it for over a year, now.

Jacqline, I did not know that you had diabetes. You know that I am here for you if you need any kind of help with diabetes or anything else. You have given me so much help and I would like to do the same for you. After all, that is what friends and family do for each other.

I am sorry that I wasn't on the computer this weekend to see that you were going into the hospital. I hope and pray all went well with the surgery and that you are recouperating well. Infection is nothing to mess with and I am glad that the Dr. was on top of things.
