I'm quite used to feedback for my stories which simply says "great stuff", "keep writing" etc. I have had people PM me with answers to specific things or questions on specific things.

Tonight however and for the second time since I came onto the boards I got a PM feedback about my thread contributions which was titled "Keep em coming" and said simply;

I am really enjoying the comments you make on these threads.

I don't know why I'm asking but does anyone else get 'fanmail' about their thread postings?

Sure, and it's flattering.

We're here, hopefully, to get a little enjoyment out of all of this. Why not encourage something you like?

I've had one before. It's slightly disconcerting, but nice. I don't do this bit for compliments, more because I'm an opinionated loudmouth who insists that he knows best. Always nice to be informed that I do know best by a 3rd party though.

i think it is great to let people know that their posts are appreciated. ;) it is a way to make this a warmer place all around.

also, a pm has a more personal touch and doesn't hi-jack threads.

and since three of the sweetest guys are posting on this thread, i will take this opportunity to PUBLICLY say that i enjoy all of your posts. they make me smile!

Occasionally, but more often I get abuse from people who disagree with me.

It got so bad, from one particular person, a while ago that I changed my Lit name to the present one.

T'was moi!!!

Gosh, I feel like a 14 yr old bay city roller fan now... But yes I was the one that sent the PM congratulating Mr G on his wordy prowess when dealing with inane whingeing. I didn't actually say that, just 'keep 'em coming' was my message, as it would have highlighted the negativity he was responding too.

I always feel that I should tell people when they, impress, inspire, motivate or whatever me. Life is far too short to not do it.
Just spreading some positivity around and congratulating someone else for doing the same.

:D

Not fan-mail, really... but it has happend now and then that people have written me a kind message saying that they agree with me.

I've only got two stories on Lit at the moment, so as yet no feedback or PMs etc. However, I've had my website up and running for a few years now, and the amount of weird feedback from that has been unbelievable - mainly because of the type of fiction I write.

I decided a few years back, that after the angsty writing of my teens (Oh woe is me... where's my razor, my wrists want to bleed etc) I would try to write with no holds barred, no subject taboo.

I done that, which included stories which are sickening, and got to the point I had to cut bits out because I felt physically sick. As the years have went on, they have toned down. But the feedback I recieved from early stories ranged from I needed to be locked up, to I was something to be worshipped by people who enjoyed that style of fiction.

However, the most common and amusing feed back I get is from a story I wrote called Car Sex (which I would put on Lit, but not sure where to put it), it's basically a story about losing virginity in the back of a car, but it all gets a bit weird and deliverance style (and this before I had ever seen deliverance). After people read that, they kept asking if it was from personal experience... in the story, the female character is chased across a field by farmers wielding flaming torches and pitchforks then is drugged and gang raped..... how messed up people thought I must have been to have THAT come from personal experience...

I've received a number of PMs too after posting on threads... but I think most of them just wanted sex.

Also -- I sent a PM to someone a few weeks back for posting something that made me weep with laughter. I was a little down at the time, and I wanted to thank him...

I actually made a very good friend via a random PM. She'd read some of my posts, decided I sounded too pompous NOT to know what I'm talking about, and out of nowhere emailed me and asked me to edit a very delightful story she has yet to put up on Lit. Hadn't read any of my stories; just thought to herself "hmmm, this creature is possessing of a fine vocabulary and an unwillingness not to use it. I must make her my pet editor." And it was love. No wait, that was the microwave. :D

Hmmmmmm

Yes nice isn't it gauchecritic, well done for attracting an admirer,
posting here is normally a bit like pissing yourself in dark trousers isn't it? It gives you a warm feeling but nobody notices.

I have had PM's and actually one e mail concerning posted items, a couple of very nice one's from very nice people, and a couple of very strange one's from very strange people.

The e mail was a bit worrying, full of praise and nice words, but written in a masculine manner and obviously from a man, gulp!!.
Still I have been known to bowl from the Pavilion end so not too disconcerting.

Keep up the good work mate:D

Hey Ginger, careful love, Bay City Rollers, even I remember them, hehe!!

pops...............;)

When I post to threads I the only PM's I usually get are ones asking to see nekkid pics of me. Sure wish people thought I had a mind!

True, but some threads are just begging to be hijacked. (Or is that like saying a girl was "asking for it"? Hmmmmm.)

Quite so dear, quite so, I met those characters once when working at the Apollo Oxford while they were performing there, well I'd be loath to call it performing really.
God did all you 14 yr olds make a racket while they were on stage.

Hey Earl yes, it beats shoving s**t uphill in the polite stakes though, hehe!!

it has to be said, there have been some replies here that are worthy of a congratulatory PM... But there are so many other good threads recently that its in tough competition for Thread of the Week Award (which I think blatantly has to be the squirting thread, since I started it ;-).

Anyhow, the only PM feedback I've got have been regarding WSO's Excercise threads. Which reminds me, where have they gone recently..?
