My computer crashed , & I'm struggling to get it back to normal.
It's a Windows ME with compaq AMD hardware.

The restore points have mysteriously vanished, so that's out.

My problem at present is that the resolution is too coarse. If I didn't know what it was supposed to say, I couldn't for example, read the fine print on this board, & pictures look as grainy as if they were modified for av purposes.

It seems to only be in windows. If I'm not on the net & I put in a game CD, the graphics are normal on a non-widows program.

Any suggestions for fixing what I've got?

It sounds like it's stuck in 640x480x16 colors -- the default minimum display resolution.

Try Control Panel -> Display Options -> Display Properties to reset the resolution to something useable.

It was stuck their originally. It got useable enough to start this thread when I eventually got it reset to 256. I thought that was my "normal" setting. I was wrong.

Based on your advice I continued to experiment ,changing settings & restarting, until I found a "normal looking" display @ 800x600xTrue Color (32bit).

Thanks a lot for guidance in an exasperating situation, Harold. It sure beats starting from scratch reprogramming the thing.

:) Maybe I can bake you cookies sometime.
