That's the main thing wrong with America, and has been since 1980 at least. The rich get their way. Nothing gets done if they seriously object to it, even if the majority want it. See Gilens and Page.

The white working class vote for Trump because they want back the time in America -- roughly from WWII to the mid-1970s -- when a white man, at least, who had only a high-school education, could earn a middle-class income.
