Yeah, well. I make great pumpkin pies, really I do.

Tonight I had the pumpkin pie filling all done except for the last can of evaporated milk. It was bad milk, all separated and yucky! Luckily I noticed before I dumped it in and ruined everything. Off to the store I go for a replacement can of milk. (I did discover they make it in fat free and 2% now, so I tried the 2% instead of my usual whole milk.)

My crusts rolled out perfectly and should be nice and flaky. I've got a great recipe, if anyone wants it, by the way. They are never pretty looking, but they do taste good!

I'm feeling good at this point. Confident. Two pies all done and ready to go in the oven. I pull the oven rack out, put the pies on, shove the rack back in, and slosh a good amount of pie filling over the bottom of the oven.

So, instead of the wonderful smell of baking pumpkin pies, I'm smelling burning pie filling and I have the oven fan on and the patio door cracked open for fresh air. All I need is my smoke detectors to decide my pie mixture is really a fire in the house, too.

And how is your Thanksgiving meal prep going??? :p

Mmmm...I love pumpkin pie. I'm just sitting here playing on Lit instead of doing something productive. Tomorrow morning I'll be productive, I'll buy a pie to take to my brothers. LOL. Before that I'll make another set of video shelves.

I'm uh sitting here asking..."How's it going in there!"

"Are you going to make as many pies as last year?"

Tomorrow, I'm taking drawing paper and crayons to the family feast. I'm asking everyone to express what five elements their 'heaven' would contain - pictures, words, etc. It's a self-realization exercise and it should be fun.

My family would make you sit at the children's table for that idea.

:p

This year we're going away to a gathering - no house to clean, nothing to plan, nothing too major to cook!! (we're so lucky)

We are in charge of bringing the pies, so our house today was filled with delightful scents of baking pumpkin. Yum! (We also will bring a birthday cake because our daughter turns 8 on Thanksgiving!) Fun!

This promises to be a terrific stress-free event! Yea!!!!

:D

My ultra-conservative one might too...but then I'd prefer to sit with the kids, where the creative energy is more apt to flow freely.:D

Not to mention the gravy, too. Don't forget to wear your bib over there, mister!

Just pulled two pies out of the oven. Eh..they look ok. My punkin split a little bit. Nobody will be able to tell under the mountain of whipped cream, right?

Got a hair up my ass to use up some of the baking chocolate laying around the house, so I've decided to go artistic with my pecan pie and drizzle dark and white chocolate over it. Chocolate's sitting in the double boilers waiting for the pie to cool before I melt it down and do my Jackson Pollack impression.

Garlic's roasted for the mashed taters I'll make tomorrow before leaving for mom's.

I'm only about an hour behind where I wanted to be. I had to stop at a store to get a Chanukah present for my niece. ooo! but I got her the CUTEST stuffed frog. It's a Gund. I'm a sucker for Gund stuffed animals.

yes, ma'am!

They usually don't let me sit with them for very long - too many food fights and articles of food adorning one's body. But, yes, I do wear a bib.

anyone remember that part in the christmas story when he talks about the turkey? turkey all gone , no turkey sandwiches...etc, i am going to waddle my butt to the grocery store and buy a tv dinner, my mom is busy and the rest of the family went out of town, and i am work 4-9 so during my 15 minute break that is dinner.

Hey, you dont have time to drop by my house to make,uh I mean eat dinner with us tomorrow do you? :D hehe

Now you made me hungry...

I made 2 pumpkin pies (baked the pumpkins this morning), some cranberry apple crisp, a pecan pie, an apple pie, a cherry cheesecake and a 7 layer cookie bar.

Our thanksgiving just keeps growing, we are up to 24 prople now including 4 assorted stray folks from the local air base that would otherwise be alone. My family is showing up from 3 states, and we now have 6 pies of varius types including pumkin and sweet potatoe. I start smoking the turkey at 9:00.

I was in charge of the turkey, dressing, pies, potatos, gravy and I know I'm forgetting something else. But anyway... if you want to join us.. you need to come here. I'm not traveling. LOL

;)

I just have to show up.

I think my family knows I am a lousy cook!

And the kidlings are with their dad for Thanksgiving, so it will definitely take away from the holiday.

*sigh*

(That does mean more pumkin pie for me, though!)

:D

My pies are done and cooling on the rack. Now they smell pretty good. :) They don't look too bad, except the burned part where the pie filling sloshed over the sides. Oops.

My contribution to Thanksgiving dinner is done! Yeah!

So ....... Nora.....

When I go visit will you bake me a pie ?!?!

And, you know I never forgot I owe you some vanilla ! :)

I solved this problem.. by having my ex husband, his wife and (usually) his parents spend the holidays at our house.

We put the "fun" into disfunctional. :D ;)

this year.. it's myself, my boyfriend, all 8 of our kids, my mom, my boyfriends parents, my boyfriends grandparents, my ex husband, his wife and their kids and my brother.
